Hot Food = Hot Bod

July 21, 2012

Dreary (relatively) cold morning = hot foods. Oats + coffee! However, it is not January and these definitely raised my body temperature. Proof they do their job well in the winter!

Foodblog-2317

Coach’s oats, whipped banana oatmeal style, with cottage cheese, blueberries, chia seeds, cinnamon and a blob of both sunflower butter and Biscoff Crunchy!

Foodblog-2314

I think I prefer this coffee cold brewed!

I was excited to turn on House Hunters with breakfast this morning and find a BLOGGER featured!! She was looking for a kitchen with natural light in Austin: The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart! I’m proud to say that I chose the correct house for this couple – and love how they decorated it!

I’m out and about this morning – umbrella in hand!

That’s the main reason I love cold breakfast… I have to have my protein in the mornings, so that usually ends up involving hard boiled eggs and raw veggies. July in Florida isn’t the ideal setting for hot breakfast. But the AC helps. Definitely only iced coffee/tea, though!

have you ever made overnight oats, expecting it to be hot in the morning, and woke up with cool temps? and then tried to turn your hot oats into cold? i considered microwaving my cold overnight oats this morning but was afraid it might make them go off or get too soggy. thought i’d ask the oatmeal master. :)

I do nuke them sometimes – but just to take off the chill. I never want to eat them HOT!

If I wake up to cooler temps or change my mind about having a cold breakfast, I just leave them in the frig for the next day and have the breakfast I’m craving today! They keep fine an extra day.

Yummy !!! I had an almost finished peanut butter jar, so I used it as a bowl for my oats this morning! Complete with chia seeds a la Kath!

I am LOVING this weather today – it’s such a refreshing break!

I saw that House Hunters last night! It’s our little dream to be on the show…”Kevin and Rosie have just moved to Rosie’s hometown of Charlottesville Virginia to settle down and raise a family. They’re looking for a 3 BR house with all the conveniences of living in town, but with lots of outdoor space for their daughter, dog and a big garden.” Can’t you see it? :)

Haha I can!! PLEASE let me come for the “friends and family” house warming party!!! I would have loved to be on the show when we bought our house, but Matt was against it :)

I would always get overheated in my apartment during the summer if I had hot oats. So, I crank up the AC if I have them now ;)

I have been following your blog for almost a year now but I have not left a comment until this morning. I found KERF while looking up oatmeal recipes (I have an admitted obsession). Well, my oldest son has had some tummy issues this week and I encouraged him to try Overnight Oats. He gives new meaning to being a picky eater, but guess what…HE LOVED THEM!!! I just wanted to share with you because I would never have tried this recipe if I hadn’t found your blog, thank you!

I still can’t drink cold coffee… but I did just mix some room temp in my chocolate protein powder and it was tasty! Like chocolate mocha protein pudding .:)

It is dreary outside here as well.

I watched that same episode of House Hunters last night about the blogger.

It’s a VERY hot day already, here in Texas. I would love for it to be dreary and rainy. Your placemat is the cutest. Where do you get your Coach’s oats? I’ve looked everywhere for them….may have to break down and buy them online.

I got mine from the OpenSky sale – compliments of Coach’s Oats. When I run out, I will probably get them online somewhere when there’s a good shipping price. I haven’t seen them in stores

I have seen them for sale at The Cheese Shop in Colonial Williamsburg! Maybe some specialty stores carry them? Haven’t seen them anywhere in Cville yet, though!

That mat is so cool, love it! I hate when I think I need warm food and end up breaking out in a sweat…ever get the “tea sweats” ? Do love a good bowl of warm whipped oats though!

I love House Hunters! I’m not sure why that show is so addictive but I must figure out if I can watch it online since I don’t have cable. Back when I did, it was definitely one of my favorite shows to have on. :)

I’m loving that placemat! Where did you get it?
I’m about to lease my very first post-college apartment, so I’ll be looking this site a lot for decorating inspiration. I love your light, breezy style:)
