Hot Buns

Hot cross [Apple Crunch] buns!!

IMG_2497 (640x427)

Think we just sold out of those. Also, a customer bought 32 hamburger buns first thing this morning. Wonderful for her and us, but not so good for all the other people looking for buns this morning. We shouldda known the 4th would need more buns!

IMG_2498 (427x640)

My employees know me so well. Allie brings me crumbs. Alex brings me giant balls of cookie dough!! I took one big bite of this – groaned in pleasure – and then passed it back. SO GOOD. SO decadent!

IMG_2499 (640x427)

Lunch came at 1:30 with a big salad (loving the garden greens we’ve had in the fridge all week) and half a curried tuna salad sandwich.

IMG_2507 (640x427)

Jenny knows me well: “I styled this sandwich for you since I knew it would be on the internet” Smile

IMG_2505 (640x427)

I added some apricots to my salad and just a drizzle of honey as dressing.

IMG_2506 (640x427)

3 hours to go till it’s the happy weekend. Although I might take off and run some errands first. We need all the summer fixins: sunscreen, a natural bug repellant, shampoo!

I need to work in a place where people are handing me apple crunch buns and cookie dough.

Although, that could be REALLY dangerous ; )

Have a great time, Kath! It’s great that every time we have Monday federal holidays, you two get a full weekend together. Yay long weekends!

I’ve been meaning to ask because it looks so amazing, what is your recipe for the curried tuna?

Reply

4 KathEats July 2, 2011 at 12:59 pm

I can’t reveal, as it’s now a GH recipe, but it’s very similar to the tuna salad recipe I have here on KERF on the recipage

haha Thanks. I usually add raisins to mine, you should try it sometime!

Going to give your recipe a try. Do all GH bakeries share their recipes or do they develop there own?

Love the drizzle on those buns!

I never would have thought to get buns at Great Harvest so that’s really neat. I need to see if my local bakery carries any!

I took my hubby to our local GH for breakfast this morning. He got an eggwich w/ turkey on rye & a raspberry/blackberry scone. He said it was the best eggwich he’d ever had, and he bought a loaf of cinnamon chip for the road. He’s a convert!

“Jenny knows me well: “I styled this sandwich for you since I knew it would be on the internet””–

Oh that is AWESOME! I would love my own personal food stylist! Funny story is that my 4 year old knows that she can’t eat anything until photo sessions are over and the camera gets put down.

Don’t touch it, don’t move, don’t bite into it til pic taking is over. I may be able to talk her into being my food stylist in a few years :)

She actually loves looking at the pics on my computer afterward. A blogger in training :)

Happy 4th Kath, and congrats on all those buns…sold!

Just bought EcoSmart Organic Natural Repellent – we’ll see if it works!

Reply

25 Becky July 2, 2011 at 10:09 pm

I have found that spraying a little bit of the all-purpose cleaning solution of the Shaklee Basic-H2 on the furniture or towel or blanket where I am sitting helps to deter bugs! It’s organic; something about it bugs don’t like. Works great!

26 KathEats July 3, 2011 at 7:46 am

Brilliant! Laura told me it makes a good bug killer too, but i have yet to try it

I love John Frieda Blonde line and my hair loves Pantene and Herbal Essences, but I’m on the hunt for something more natural. I tried Whole Foods Natural and HATED it. It was too liquidy, didn’t lather and left my hair unclean. This time I’m trying an expensive Alba that smells awesome!

Reply

36 Ali July 2, 2011 at 8:25 pm

If the Alba doesn’t work, give Avalon a try. The lavender kind smells so great!

Reply

37 KathEats July 2, 2011 at 8:30 pm

As much as I love strong herbal scents for cleaning and in the kitchen, I don’t love them a ton for beauty. It seemed to be SO strong when I sniffed it! Maybe it’s different on teh body?

Kath, I think you would like the Shaklee ProSante hair care. Botanical and fresh. Concentrated, so lasts and lasts. Very economical.

Reply

40 KathEats July 3, 2011 at 7:47 am

Possibly – but you know me, I’d have to smell it first!!

Reply

41 Becky July 3, 2011 at 9:15 am

Of course. : ) You know, Shaklee does have a wonderful 100% guarantee. So, if you possibly didn’t like the scent, it could be returned, no questions asked. When you shampoo with it, the scent is refreshing AND, of course, the scent doesn’t stay on your hair.

Reply

42 KathEats July 3, 2011 at 9:23 am

Forgot about that!!

Reply

43 Becky July 3, 2011 at 9:33 am

I love their guarantee and great customer service. Hey, we’re here at the lake house for the holiday weekend with some friends and family. We’ll be in C’ville this evening for dinner somewhere. Maybe we will see you around! We’ll probably visit the downtown area to walk around, either before or after dinner. Trying to stay cool! Wish we could make a bakery run today, but “lake activities”; i.e. golf, kayaking, swimming, fishing are occupying the day today! We LOVED our GH “supplies” that we picked up two weeks ago there!

Reply

44 KathEats July 3, 2011 at 9:38 am

Have fun at the lake! We’re closed today and the 4th – time for some R&R! I think we’re going to Stinson Vineyards for music + a BBQ this afternoon, but have fun downtown. Check out my Cville page if you need recommendations!

45 Becky July 3, 2011 at 9:41 am

Is the bakery open tomorrow?

Reply

46 KathEats July 3, 2011 at 9:48 am

47 Becky July 3, 2011 at 9:58 am

Wow! You have a nice three-day holiday. Enjoy!

48 Ali July 3, 2011 at 10:14 am

Yeah, the I don’t find that the smell lingers – I just like sudsing up with it! I use the peppermint shower gel, too, and it makes my skin feel so refreshed. Love that stuff. :)

Haha! One of the perks in a. working in a restaurant and b. getting close with your restaurant co-workers is that they totally know what you’re in the mood for somehow! I almost always say “I want lunch, can you make me something?” and get a meal I had no idea I was craving! <3
Hope y'all have a busy 4th weekend!

It was a gift – I’m not sure if they sell them on the site, but I bet they do?

Reply

59 Becky July 2, 2011 at 10:23 pm

Yes, they still have some water bottles that are similar to the one I gave you. One is white like yours that is 24 oz. stainless steel with a single wall, threaded top, flip up straw and carrying loop. If she goes to your Get Clean link and types in 58512 in the Search box, it will be there. There are a couple more styles, too, 58515 and 58505.

Reply

60 Becky July 2, 2011 at 10:26 pm

Hi Debbie,
Yes, Shaklee still has water bottles to choose from. If you click on Kath’s Get Clean link, then type in these item codes in the Search box, you will see the choices. 58512, 58515, 58505. One is very similar to the one I gave to Kath that is pictured in her blog entry. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Reply

61 Becky July 2, 2011 at 10:28 pm

Whoops, my apologies; rather than the item codes, you will need to type in either water bottles or Shaklee style to find them.

Reply

62 Becky July 2, 2011 at 10:33 pm

Goodness, Debbie, my apologies AGAIN! I actually located the water bottles on a site for Shaklee members that is different from Kath’s site. Kath has access to that other site, or I am more than happy to direct you if you’d like to email me.

63 Debbie July 3, 2011 at 5:08 am

Thanks Becky! I’m really trying to find the “get clean” one. If you can point me in its direction, let me know. Thanks again.

Hi Debbie. I’m pretty sure that that particular bottle was a limited time offer. But email me separately. I may be able to locate one for you and ship it to you.
