Home @ Homewood

January 16, 2011

I am proclaiming this hotel the best. ever. Beating out some of the fancy hotels I have stayed in during my travels! If you look out that window there is a fire pit turned on and a bunch of nice gas grills!

Our huge suite was less than $100 for the night and there are so many perks included! The quality for the value is what makes it so awesome.

Matt and I slept like ROCKS in our king size bed and slept in 2 hours later than we have all week till 7:30!

We had plans to make stovetop oats in our room until we got down to the breakfast area to find a caldron of hot oats already made and waiting for us!

Topped with cinnamon and raisins plus Grape Nuts!! And a strawberry jam. And almond butter we brought downstairs. I have forgotten how good oatmeal is! Even if made sticky plain style for the masses ; )

Matt felt it needed some salt and sprinkled it on our bowls. Salt and oats are a great combo โ€“ a la salted caramel!

We also shared an orange for lack of fruit otherwise. We have super ripe bananas in our room that probably should have been used, but we were too lazy to go back up and retrieve them!

Plus 2 cups of coffee in these awesome green Fiestaware mugs!

This guy scared me to death this morning! Montana charm.

After a short stint of digestion, we headed down to the fitness room for a nice leisurely workout. We had our own personal top of the line gym!!

We spent an hour going back and forth on the equipment, watching House Hunters, reading BHG and ending with some weights.

I seem to have strained my wrist lifting our luggage the other day and when I picked up a 20 lb weight it HURT. Not sure what thatโ€™s going to do with my weight lifting schedule. Maybe switching to machines for a while when I get home will let it rest.

We are showering in our luxury master bath and then headed out for lunch and a grocery stop before driving in the rainy slush back to Dillon. Then itโ€™s laundry time!! I am so ready for some 100% clean clothes!

Just so you know, Homewood Suites is a Hilton property, and qualifies for Hilton’s loyalty program Hilton Honors. It’s free, and you can earn points for free stays, plus additional frequent flier miles for your preferred air carrier. I travel a bunch for work, and it’s one of the better loyalty programs.

8 Kath January 16, 2011 at 1:43 pm

I signed up for it this morning!

9 Caitlyn (A Spoonful of Life) January 16, 2011 at 1:43 pm

Animals on walls always give me the creeps, too! Why?!

I’m loving the bright green bowl and mug. Just in case you weren’t having a bright and shining morning already… :)

10 Stacy @ Every Little Thing January 16, 2011 at 1:59 pm

11 Faith @ lovelyascharged January 16, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Eek! That’s one crazy head on the wall!

12 Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) January 16, 2011 at 2:13 pm

So glad you got a great night’s sleep in!

Take care of that wrist…wrist injuries are the worst…they just pop up out of no where and sometimes you have no idea what you actually did!

And that head on the wall…wow!

13 Amanda (Eating Up) January 16, 2011 at 2:16 pm

Those made-for-the-masses oats look great! The strawberry and PB combo is making my mouth water.

14 Sarah @ See Sarah Graduate January 16, 2011 at 2:26 pm

That is a nice gym. I’ll have to keep Homewood Suites in mind for future use. From now one whenever I book hotel I’m going to ask about the gym first.

Wow, that Hotel has really nice gym equipment! A rarity in hotels twice the price. I’ll have to look for one next time I need a hotel.

28 Michele @ Healthy Cultivations January 16, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Your oatmeal looks good. Oh, how I do love oatmeal. I’ve been putting something extra on top lately to add just a little bit of crunch. Those Grape Nuts would do the trick just fine.

29 Maryann January 16, 2011 at 3:29 pm

How fun!! I totally want to go stay in a hotel somewhere after reading your blog for the past couple days. Hope the wrist starts to feel better and have a safe drive!

It’s like you’ve got a nut butter and jelly sandwich on top of your bowl of oats! I love some crunchy cereal sprinkled on top of my soft and squishy oats :)
Safe travels on your journey!

38 Haleigh January 16, 2011 at 5:04 pm

I love it when a big pot of oats is waiting for me in the hotel lobby :)

39 Olena January 16, 2011 at 5:08 pm

It’s always so gratifying when one gets good value for money at a hotel. Way to go! Reading about Homewood Suites made me smile, as it reminded me of Up In the Air (the book, not the movie), which made fun of Bingham’s obsession with this hotel chain.

40 Cara Craves... January 16, 2011 at 5:12 pm

That little hotel does have all the “bells and whistles” and for under 100$!
Nice find! I love how cozy it looks.

41 [email protected] Sweet Life January 16, 2011 at 5:13 pm

Looks like a fabulous hotel for under $100–wow! I love the charm of the west.

44 Namaste Gurl January 16, 2011 at 6:21 pm

How fun you found oatmeal, and with your favorite toppings and accruements! Don’t you just love hotel fitness rooms,as well? They’re the best :)

45 Allison @ Happy Tales January 16, 2011 at 6:34 pm

LOL Montana charm, indeed!

So neat that y’all had the gym all to yourself! Perfect way to start off the morning. Sorry to hear about your strained wrist… just give it some rest!

46 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin January 16, 2011 at 6:53 pm

The only thing that freaks me out more than animal heads on the wall are those singing fish on the wall! ๐Ÿ˜›

47 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey January 16, 2011 at 8:42 pm

That breakfast looks amazing! I always want to jump on the oatmeal bandwagon in hotels, but I highly dough it’s GF oatmeal! :)

48 Hannah January 16, 2011 at 9:35 pm

‘Most every food needs just a tiny pinch of salt to bring out its flavours! Gosh, I’m so envious of the grape nuts. I used to sneak out entire cups of the stuff when I was on exchange in America ๐Ÿ˜›

49 Alaina January 16, 2011 at 11:45 pm

That looks like a home away from home. I guess that’s why they named it that… :-)

50 Tyla January 17, 2011 at 12:21 am

My husband and I stayed at a Hilton Homewood Suites in St. Cloud MN when we were there for my thesis defense and we were REALLY impressed with them also – the perks included as well as the awesome suite we had were really great value for the price!!

51 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday January 17, 2011 at 8:41 am

Everything needs a little dash of salt!
