Ho Ho Halloween

October 21, 2011

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!?

Delicious warm cinnamon raisin oats on a chilly morning.

I took home a bag of our Great Harvest mix last night. It’s Oats, raisins, cinnamon, dried milk and a pinch of salt, all in one. Totally scrumptious!

Only a bit sweeter than my tongue usually likes – banana should have been left out!

Topped with Carrot Raisin Walnut muffin and sunflower buttah

And served with the new Republic of Tea Red Velvet Cake tea that Sara gave me! It’s made with rooibos and was delicious! Especially when topped with foamy milk and cinnamon

Happy Fall Holidays!

[And I’m really hoping to be able to say happy birthday to Baby Malone!]

2 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table October 21, 2011 at 8:25 am

That is a gorgeous cup ‘o joe.

I saw a Christmas ad the other day and it disturbed me. How is it that one ad made me feel like I’m behind on Christmas shopping?! Ha.

3 Michelle Hunt (PeachyPalate) October 21, 2011 at 8:26 am

Those oats look and sound delicious! It was 4degrees here this morning, good of done with some belly warming oats :)

4 Cait's Plate October 21, 2011 at 8:27 am

Oooh red velvet cake tea!?!? That sounds incredible – especially with the steamed milk on top!

I keep forgetting I have those Cinnamon Raisin oats! I need to use them…like yesterday!!

Also, is it sad that this post made me incredibly excited about Christmas?? Haha

I love all rooibos teas – red velvet sounds decadent!

8 Chloe (In Fine Feather) October 21, 2011 at 8:31 am

Salt in the oats mixture is a good idea – I always forget about adding a pinch to mine but it really does bring the flavor out.

9 Amanda October 21, 2011 at 8:34 am

They make Red Velvet Cake tea?! I need to find that! I love teas that I can drink for dessert. Good call on adding the steamed milk. :)

10 Anna @ On Anna's Plate October 21, 2011 at 8:34 am

21 Katie October 21, 2011 at 9:17 am

Baby Malone is here! So happy! Poor girl went through a tough time there, so happy the baby is here and healthy!

The great harvest oatmeal sounds fabulous! Yum!

No heat on yet in our place, If I lived alone, it would be! My husband I swear could have it turned off all winter! He is crazy!

22 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat October 21, 2011 at 9:24 am

Aww congrats to Emily! And I love your breakfast today… oatmeal raisin cookies are one of my favourite flavours, and cinnamon – well, let’s face it… the world can always use a bit more cinnamon. 😉

23 VeggieGirl October 21, 2011 at 9:25 am

Im excited about Christmas too 😀

24 Elizabeth Kelley @ A Dancer In The Kitchen October 21, 2011 at 9:38 am

26 Cat @Breakfast to Bed October 21, 2011 at 9:45 am

I want egg nog, gingerbread, and peppermint-STAT. It’s the most wonderful time of the freaking year and I want to put up my dang tree already. It’s going to be EPIC. I am doing an ALL SILVER tree this year. Oh yeah.

27 Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews October 21, 2011 at 9:48 am

That tea sounds amazing! I must try it.

28 Gina @ Running to the Kitchen October 21, 2011 at 9:54 am

I’m definitely going to be on the hunt for some of that red velvet cake tea. That sounds delicious!

29 Sara October 21, 2011 at 9:56 am

It makes me feel so weird to hear you talk about fall while I live in Houston and it only JUST got below 85*F this week! This morning we walked the kids to school and were attacked by mosquitoes the whole way. It finally rained here about two weeks ago and since it was so incredibly dry all year, the mosquitoes had been “hibernating” until now – they’re aggressive little buggers, too! Enjoy the fall weather! I miss it. (not a native-Houstonian)

30 Angel7 October 21, 2011 at 9:58 am

A good breakfast to warm the tummy on a fall day!

31 [email protected] October 21, 2011 at 10:24 am

I’m going to have to search for that tea, sounds amazing!!!

32 Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl October 21, 2011 at 10:26 am

A carrot raisin walnut muffin sounds really good now! And red velvet cake tea? Yum!

But all I do not unfortunately have right now. :(
Will just settle with my Sbux Cafe Misto with 2 pumps of classic syrup and banana.

33 Lauren @ What Lauren Likes October 21, 2011 at 10:30 am

I love the looks of the warm drink! Perfect for a morning like this :)

34 Katherine October 21, 2011 at 10:33 am

Today is a great day to have a birthday! My sweet baby is turning one today!! Unfortunately, he has a fever and what is looking like a stomach bug. Ugh!! The good thing is that he doesn’t know it is his birthday and we will just celebrate another day.
I clicked the link to Baby Malone’s mama’s blog and hope for her sake he is born today!! Being overdue is no fun!

35 KathEats October 21, 2011 at 10:53 am

Missed you today! Hope your little one feels better soon

36 Taya October 21, 2011 at 10:41 am

I’ve been contemplating that tea for a while, but since it’s a little pricey, I haven’t tried it yet! I’m glad you like it though – I think I’ll finally go out and buy some!

37 Cathy October 21, 2011 at 10:44 am

Happy Friday Kath. Just curious, do you add a sweetner to your tea? I use Truvia and wanted your “RD” opinion. THanks so much.

38 KathEats October 21, 2011 at 10:54 am

I don’t add anything. I just don’t feel that any of the sweeteners on the market are worthy of my consumption on a daily basis. I use Stevia in the Raw on occasion if I have a tea as a dessert

39 Cathy October 21, 2011 at 10:57 am

Thanks Kath. I appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Have a fabulous week end. <3

40 Jillian October 21, 2011 at 8:08 pm

Isn’t Truvia just stevia?

41 Cathy October 24, 2011 at 7:22 am

Yes it is. So….I think it is okay to use.

42 ~Christy @ wonderofallthings October 21, 2011 at 10:46 am

There’s the latte! So pretty…and rooibos is fantastic. I, too, enjoy the GH Cinn Raisin Oatmeal. :)

43 J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) October 21, 2011 at 11:10 am

That oatmeal mix sounds tasty! It seems Christmas is coming earlier and earlier every year. :(

44 Health Bee October 21, 2011 at 11:45 am

I love your breakfast photos, especially photo #5. The tea sounds delicious too.

45 Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth October 21, 2011 at 11:56 am

We Brits are renowned tea drinkers. But tea connoisseurs do not add any milk at all as they believe it stops you tasting the delicate flavours. Most regular tea drinkers add a little milk but to my way of thinking, a tea with frothy milk is a complete no no. However, I am always open to trying new things and would like to give it a go. How do you prepare your frothy tea and does that work with any tea?

46 KathEats October 21, 2011 at 12:29 pm

There are definitely wonderful teas that are best sipped straight to fully enjoy the flavors.

Then there are those that need a dumping of milk to taste better :)

I have a $2 frother from IKEA that foams the tea

47 Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth October 21, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Thank you, but I meant do you make a concentrated amount of the and add frothy milk in the same way you make a latte by adding frothy milk to an Espresso. Or do you make tea with mainly water and a little milk and then froth that?

48 KathEats October 21, 2011 at 3:50 pm

The second! Make tea as normal. Froth about 1/4 cup milk. Dump on top of tea.

49 Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth October 21, 2011 at 5:55 pm

Thanks. I will try that tomorrow. With an egg with smoked paprika on top which sounds great.

50 Alaina October 21, 2011 at 11:57 am

What a delicious looking breakfast! And I am intriqued by that red velvet tea! I’m going to have to scope it out. :-)

51 kathleen @ the daily crumb October 21, 2011 at 12:27 pm

beautiful foam! and happy birthday baby malone :)

52 [email protected] Flying ONION October 21, 2011 at 12:31 pm

Oh this looks wonderful. 😀

And here’s to hoping we can all welcome Baby Malone into the world very, very soon! 😀

53 TeenyLittleSuperChef October 21, 2011 at 12:46 pm

On a dreary day like today, nothing sounds more appealing than a warm bowl of cinnamony oatmeal. Oh how I wish I could get my paws on a bag of GH oats. Do they sell them in all their stores? I found out there’s a bakery about 30 minutes from my house and have serious plans to get my batookus there this afternoon. Time to go bread crazy! I really hope they have Cvill Crunch bread. That’s your favorite, right?

54 Emily October 21, 2011 at 1:11 pm

This oatmeal looks amazing!! I received the Cville Granola and…omg…seriously dangerous. I am in LOVE! Your Cville customers sure are spoiled having your Great Harvest around! Our Great Harvest only has bread and lunch items (which is wonderful!), but it would be nice to have all of the delicious things that you guys have!!!

Thanks again!

55 KathEats October 21, 2011 at 1:12 pm

:) Glad it made it safely!

56 Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel October 21, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Christmas can come as early as you like! My friend and I were just listening to Christmas music on Pandora last night while working. I might have a slight obsession with the holiday season, though…

57 Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers October 21, 2011 at 1:30 pm

Oh yum! That puts my breakfast to shame. haha
Happy Friday!

58 Shaun @ snackasaurusrex.com October 21, 2011 at 5:12 pm

I’m seriously jealous…I would love some more fall/winter like weather. It’s still hot in Texas!

59 Elisabeth October 21, 2011 at 10:45 pm

I can’t believe how long it took Baby Malone to get here (but he is so sweet with those beautiful lips :) )! My mom was in labor with me about that long, too…
