Hacky Sack

February 28, 2010

We had a bit of a rough, sleepless night. Matt is sick! He woke up a few times with GI distress. At 5 this morning he felt better and we debated whether or not he should go on his trip. Pros and cons. Ultimately we decided if he felt better at 1PM that he would really regret not getting on the plane, so I took him to the airport. I hope he’s doing ok! [We’re pretty sure it was something he ate and not a sickness to spread germs]

I slept pretty lightly all night and then came home and slept like a rock for another hour and a half.

I was also pretty hungry but didn’t want to eat and then sleep, and I’m quite sore from my run.

So I feel like my body was kicked around by a Hacky Sack when I got up at 7:30!! (Still battling a slight cold as well)

Hacky Sacks

I postponed yoga with Emily, who texted me to say SHE is sick too!!?!? If it hadn’t been 24 hours, I would guess maybe they both ate something at Friday’s dinner. Who knows.

I decided since

  1. Sickness was in the air
  2. It was Sunday and I had time
  3. I had veggies on their last leg

to make some green juice

Kale, carrot, cuc, lemon, tangelo. The one piece of fruit makes such a difference. I like juice with apple the best though :)

I have also been waiting all week to have THIS for breakfast!

IMG_6946 (640x427)

A banana dog! [The original is one of my most famous posts! It has been on Stumble Upon a few times :) ]

IMG_6951 (640x427)

A Great Harvest bun with half a huuuuge banana with Justin’s Maple Almond Butter and Crofter’s North America. WOW, this Crofter’s is 10x better than the last I had! It’s super chunky with berries!! I love chunky jams.

Yum yum yum. I have to be in the right mood to eat a bread-based breakfast (I can’t be too hungry or I want the thickness of oats to fill me up) but this was perfect today.

Beverage #2

A penguin diving through a ring of fire!?

I’ve got the whole morning to myself. What to do!? Oprah just had me crying on the couch. I think I need something more uplifting next! Anyone know where I can watch Glee online? We finished DVD 1!

I’m sorry everyone is ill!! Here’s hoping you don’t get it too :s
I really really want to try ajuice with kale in, I’m just too scared cos Kale has such a strong taste! One of these days I’ll be brave…
LOVE your breakfast!! Healthy fast food, it looks so fab :) I’m just about to eat swede ‘fries’ myself, with kale crisps 😛
Have a good day!

I love Glee too! I usually DVR it when it’s not on reruns, but if the DVR screws up I can always find it here –> http://www.fox.com/fod/play.php?sh=glee. The Fox website has them the morning after they first appear on TV. Hulu probably also has them.

3 Alyssa February 28, 2010 at 9:34 am

I hope Matt is feeling better! GI problems are NOT fun :(

4 ari February 28, 2010 at 9:37 am

6 Food Makes Fun Fuel February 28, 2010 at 9:41 am

7 Heather (Heather's Dish) February 28, 2010 at 9:42 am

8 rustique February 28, 2010 at 9:44 am

Hope Matt feels better and enjoys his trip–sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun! And a banana hotdog sounds like a less sketchy alternative to the real thing.

9 Meghan @ Spreading the Health February 28, 2010 at 9:45 am

Gah, hope Matt feels better! But I bet that conference sounds too fun to pass up. Good luck to you and your immune system. :)

10 Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope February 28, 2010 at 9:46 am

So sorry to hear about all the sickness going around! Hope that green smoothie keeps you going strong today! :)

11 Jamie February 28, 2010 at 9:46 am

oh sounds like a rough night… if you have run out of Glee episodes to watch and you want something uplifting, try Modern Family! The show is hilarious!!!

12 Lauren @ eater not a runner February 28, 2010 at 9:47 am

That is my favorite Crofter’s! I hope Matt feels better soon, what a bummer :-(

13 Madeline @ Greens and Jeans February 28, 2010 at 9:47 am

14 Karla February 28, 2010 at 9:49 am

Haha! I love the idea of a banana hot dog! I totally want to try that!
Hope Matt feels better and has a great trip!

15 janine February 28, 2010 at 9:49 am

Try clicker.com
It is a great site that you can type in the show you want to watch and it will tell you all the places that it is available online.

16 Tamicka February 28, 2010 at 9:50 am

I’m sorry about matt. I hope he feels better. I know that I have been struggling with a slight cold I’m in denial about myself.

As for Glee I haven’t watched it myself but maybe you could try hulu.com. I hear that they have tons of programs on there.

17 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg February 28, 2010 at 9:50 am

lol– LOVE that “hot dog” breakfast!

So sorry that so much sickness is going around :-( I hope everyone gets back to normal health soon!!!

18 Nicole @ Making Good Choices February 28, 2010 at 9:51 am

You definitly need something more uplifting! Oprah has left me crying on the couch way too many times! haha That banana dog looks amazing, I need to make one of those. Good luck finding Glee, I am counting down till the 2nd disk is released!

19 christie @ honoring health February 28, 2010 at 10:01 am

Oh no, hope everyone is feeling better soon!

Cute breakfast idea!

20 Melinda February 28, 2010 at 10:08 am

Try hulu.com. I watched all but the first couple of episodes there.

21 Danielle (Coffee Run) February 28, 2010 at 10:08 am

I miss Oprah- can you watch her shows online?
I hop Matt feels better!

24 Kristen @ Change of Pace February 28, 2010 at 10:21 am

I definitely think sickness is in the air. We are battling a stomach bug and we NEVER get sick! Love your nanner dog :)

25 [email protected] lady February 28, 2010 at 10:23 am

Rest up today and take care of yourself! I love the banana dog, it’s so cute! What a great morning: a fun breaky, green juice, Oprah, and you might watch some Glee too! That is pretty much the perfect Sunday morning:)

26 whitney February 28, 2010 at 10:41 am

I LOVE stumbleupon but I had to remove it because it was just a little too much of a distraction 😉

Hulu.com has it for sure, and I like that site because it’s not too sketch.

Enjoy your Sunday!

27 Stef February 28, 2010 at 10:47 am

oh i’d love a banana dog! hope matt feels much better, traveling when you are sick is such a drag

28 [email protected]://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ February 28, 2010 at 10:47 am

Banana dog is so cute, looks yummy. Hope everyone starts to feel better, have a relaxing Sunday.

29 Stacey February 28, 2010 at 10:55 am

Try Hulu.com for Glee episodes. I’m pretty sure they had some on there the last time I was on. I’m sorry you feel sick! Jas is sick too, I need to learn how to make that juice for him (and me! 😉 ) Enjoy your stress free day…try to relax a bit 😀

30 Christy February 28, 2010 at 10:56 am

What about a wolf howling at a half moon? ;p

31 skinnyrunner February 28, 2010 at 10:59 am

hahaha, a banana dog! what a funny, tasty idea. going to have to try that one.

32 The Wife of a Dairyman February 28, 2010 at 11:08 am

I wonder if I can find Crofter’s in California? I’ll have to investigate….looks delicious!

33 Mara @ What's for Dinner? February 28, 2010 at 11:09 am

All the episodes of glee are on Channel131.com
Love the bananadog :)

34 Paige February 28, 2010 at 11:19 am

DEFINITELY a penguin jumping through a ring of fire! 😀

35 Ameena February 28, 2010 at 11:23 am

Sickness is definitely going around again…we were all sick last week. I’m hoping the worst of it is over. I hope your husband feels better soon because there is nothing worse than being sick on an airplane!

36 Joanne February 28, 2010 at 11:41 am

I watched Glee on Hulu this summer. Not sure how many episodes they have up right now though. Enjoy your Sunday!

37 Hannah and Esther February 28, 2010 at 11:45 am

Oh yummy great idea!

38 Hannah February 28, 2010 at 11:47 am

Oh, memory lane!! My older brother and his friends used to play hacky sack and I thought they were sooooooo cool. 😛 Maybe try http://www.sidereel.com for links to Glee episodes – that’s the site I use for most things as, living outside of the US, the channel websites and hulu won’t work for me. Good luck feeling better. For the first time in about 5 days I briefly smelt something – I have never been ecstatic to smell cigarette smoke before! Now if only my sense of taste would reappear!

39 [email protected] February 28, 2010 at 12:02 pm

THat is such a cute idea! That’s definitely something mothers can do with their kids to get them eating well and still getting the “fun” part of eating a “hot dog and fries” :-)

40 Laurie February 28, 2010 at 12:22 pm

I was just wondering what type of juicer you use. Love your blog! :)

41 Kath February 28, 2010 at 1:16 pm

I have a Breville Juice Fountain.

42 Kelly @ Local Foodie Fight February 28, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Aw! I hope he feels better! All those vitamins in those veggies should boost your immunity in case it is a bug going around!

43 Jules @ eatdrinklivelearn February 28, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Love the banana dog! I’m glad to hear you’re coming around on Glee, too. :)

44 Ashley February 28, 2010 at 1:22 pm

Neeext time you must try your banana dog with melty pnut butter + cacao bliss goooo plus jelly!! mmmm And I will try your banana dog…maybe in a tortilla though! mmm I’m glad you like that Crofters better..that is good to know! Remember how I asked you about it recently? It was like 2 days later and Whole Foods had it on sample with their bread..hehe..I forget which kind though but I think it was the N.America…I liked it for sure! Have a great day girlie :)

45 Ashley February 28, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Ohhhh I forgot!!! C.U.T.E.S.T. glass of green juice EVaaaar!!! When you make juice w/the juicer do you know how long it lasts in the fridge? I’m assuming all those veggies made more than that little glass?

46 M February 28, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Per Gina (choosingraw), it needs to be drunk immediately — putting it in the fridge (or leaving it or whatever, just not consuming it) causes it to lose all the nutrients. You really need to drink it as soon as you make it.

47 Kath February 28, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Nope – just that little glass!! Juicing is expensive :( And you’re supposed to drink it ASAP.

48 Ashley February 28, 2010 at 10:09 pm

Wow..that is crazy that it loses the nutrients!! I don’t have a juicer [yet, hehe] but good to know! Thanks ladies!

49 Emily G February 28, 2010 at 1:31 pm

Glee is definitely on Hulu!! And I seriously need to get a whole wheat bun just to make that banana PB and J

50 Jessica @ The Process of Healing February 28, 2010 at 1:52 pm

Hope Matt feels better!
That Crofter’s is the BEST. I adore it 😀

51 Cynthia (It All Changes) February 28, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Bread is always a breakfast for me only if I have an upset stomach. It just doesn’t fill me up.

52 Monica @ Musings of the Granola Girl February 28, 2010 at 1:59 pm

You’re so creative! Definitely going to check out that banana dog recipe :)

53 Anne February 28, 2010 at 2:12 pm

The banana hot dog!! That’s how I was first introduced to your blog, when the peanut butter boy linked that post!

54 Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) February 28, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Love the banana hot dog! Such an awesome idea. 😀

55 lynn (The Actors Diet) February 28, 2010 at 5:33 pm

58 Lisa February 28, 2010 at 9:47 pm

maybe i can just use a good ol slice of whole wheat bread!
thanks for the cute idea!
I wish Great Harvest had a place by me!!

59 Penny (Blonde Bibliophile) March 1, 2010 at 2:06 am

I will be eating a banana hot dog in the very, VERY near future. I have said it a few times before: YOU. ARE. A. GENIUS.

Your green juice, however, makes me quake in fear. :-)

60 Kate March 1, 2010 at 8:12 am

Hi, Kath! out of curiosity, are you familiar with The Eat Clean diet approach, and if so, what do you think about that? Someone at work was proclaiming the benefits, and after looking it up, it actually sounds sane and maintain-able (don’t think that’s a word)… :)

61 Kath March 1, 2010 at 9:17 am

I don’t know all the specifics, but I think I eat pretty clean :)

62 Glee Online March 1, 2010 at 4:57 pm

Wow, all these dishes look extremely good. I really want to try the “green juice” mmmmm.
