As a UVA grad, I have to say that if you really want to fit in in Cville, you're going to have to use the lingo. We say "Grounds" instead of campus, and students are First, Second, Third and Fourth years- not freshman, sophomores, etc. You'll go a long way with the locals if you use the lingo. Promise.
