Gone With The Wind

December 19, 2008

70*!?!? Are you kidding me?! It’s gorgeous and windy out there. And I ran right along with it – for 7.059 miles!!!!! I believe that is my personal distance record. And the cool thing is all 7 miles were a piece of cake. I didn’t really get tired, I just ended up back at home an hour later. I really could’ve run more. Although I will say my achilles tendons are a bit sore and I could tell my joints were ready to call it a day. But the rest of me was just enjoying the ride. I didn’t take any music today because my iPod was dead so it was just me, my breath and the wind. (I just typed wine instead of wind!)

Lunch was 100% orange.

A salad with mixed greens, green + red pepper, carrot, pom seeds, and Karen’s hummus, all drizzled in some lemon juice and EVOO.

Plus a small microwaved sweet potato with some butter and maple –

Dakota toast with a thin layer of pumpkin butter + Barney Butter –

Al fresco, with my big orange cup and an orange placemat and plate (and you wouldn’t believe it, but I am wearing an orange shirt too, which may have sparked the mood). I also had some pumpkin yogurt but decided I had enough to eat here and would save that for another meal.

I dug into the goodies on top of the fridge after lunch. These went down WAY too fast.

Check out my blog for the snow storm we are being pummeled with! I would do anything to be able to run outside right about now!

That looks like the perfect lunch to me!

2 caitlin December 19, 2008 at 3:01 pm

3 Halie December 19, 2008 at 3:13 pm

Wowzers! Enjoy your nice weather!

My lunch is orange today too! The bulk of it is a huge sliced carrot and a beautiful orange bell pepper! Yum!

Great job on your long run! PDRs are great!

4 Oh She Glows December 19, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Caitlin- I agree…when I did my 6 mile runs I was much hungrier than usual! It really torches calories.

5 Sammie December 19, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Your weather sounds WAY TOO NICE!! It is snowing like crazy here and we are supposed to get a foot of the yucky white stuff.

6 Amanda December 19, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Unlike you, some of us northern folk have been blasted with a winter storm! In SE Michigan, wee got almost a foot of snow today. Enjoy the sunny, warm weather for me.

Love the orange theme. :)

Same here– 70 degrees! I love it… although my body is a little confused because it was 30 yesterday!

8 VeggieGirl December 19, 2008 at 3:22 pm

It’s 31°F here and snowing like mad. Your weather is INSANELY amazing!! Enjoy it for me.

I’m in Canada (just above Montana) and its -35 here… I’m sitting in my office with a sweater AND jacket liner…

My jaw dropped when I saw the green grass!! The only thing that I can see that’s green is… well… nothing?!??! Maybe my face with envy of your warm weather?

10 hangrypanys December 19, 2008 at 3:25 pm

I can’t believe your weather! Snow is coming down here in RI!

Congrats on the amazing run!

Thanks for mentioning the Food Drive!!!!!!

11 Amanda December 19, 2008 at 3:31 pm

Yay for such a good, long run! Isn’t it awesome when you get out there and can just keep going and going??

Enjoy your weather – it’s rainy up here in PA!!

I’m also jealous of that lunch, it looks delish.

13 ashley (sweet & natural) December 19, 2008 at 3:39 pm

70 degrees! That’s incredible. I had to escape the NE snowstorm a night early so I could be home in time for my brother’s college graduation.

14 amy_jo December 19, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Kath, I am seriously SO jealous of your weather right now. As I’m typing, I’m looking out at our Michigan blizzard. My office closed early, the MALL is closed, cops are suggesting everyone stay inside; and you’re enjoying a beautiful, 70 degree day!

On the upside, I’m sure now that I’ll be having a white Christmas *amy smiles happily*

15 Allison K December 19, 2008 at 3:45 pm

Sooo jealous of your 70 degrees here also. That sweet potato looks yum!

16 christa December 19, 2008 at 3:48 pm

17 Courtney (Eat The Whole Thing) December 19, 2008 at 4:09 pm

18 Jen December 19, 2008 at 4:18 pm

It’s 80 here today. SOOOOOOOOOOOO not Christmas weather!!! :(

19 Jennifer December 19, 2008 at 4:21 pm

Glad you dug into the treats, you deserve them!

20 Moran December 19, 2008 at 4:43 pm

So jealous of the weather.. we have icy roads and 6+ inches of snow.

22 Runeatrepeat December 19, 2008 at 5:31 pm

I can’t believe it’s colder here in SoCal – it’s 57 or something right now! I am freezing!

23 Maggie December 19, 2008 at 5:55 pm

That salad looks SO colourful and fresh! YUM!

25 WendyF December 19, 2008 at 6:10 pm

Back in the US and catching up on your blogs.. The sweet potato looks delish. The home brew on the previous post looked great as well. How did it taste? Never have brewed mead before. We made a “celebration” clone that turned out pretty good.

26 Lisa December 19, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Wow, what a run! And what an aesthetically pleasing lunch!

27 KatieTX December 19, 2008 at 6:20 pm

JEALOUS of your weather! Thanks for the links too!

29 Marissa December 19, 2008 at 7:20 pm

My little brother graduated college today and I wore a sundress and cardigan. Not bundling up in December is so odd!

30 musicfan December 19, 2008 at 7:31 pm

29 degrees, sugar spun snow, and an early release workday. looks like a white Christmas on Cape Cod.

31 Katelyn December 19, 2008 at 8:15 pm

We were 65 and sunny today! Sadly, I had to work =(.

Your lunch looks particularly wonderful! So colorful and fresh, and with 100% natural light!

32 Mariposa December 19, 2008 at 9:06 pm

33 Justy2003 December 19, 2008 at 9:15 pm

Great run! Congrats on your PDR! 7.059 miles?? How did you get it so exact?!

I’m wishing I was in warmer weather…this Ohio weather is much colder than the Houston weather I’ve grown accustomed to!

34 Kath December 19, 2008 at 9:38 pm

christa ,
Sorry, I don’t have the recipe.

Justy2003 ,
Lol. I used Gmap-Pedometer to track my route. I wish I could share it with you all, but I guess that’s a safety no-no.

35 Jess December 20, 2008 at 2:05 am

Seriously, guys, what? 70 degrees a week before Christmas is not a GOOD thing. That’s scary.

36 MizFit December 20, 2008 at 6:47 am

37 karla December 20, 2008 at 10:30 am
