For two years now I’ve been telling myself I’d get up early and go to the City Market for breakfast. Because we have to be at childbirth class at 9am, today was the perfect day! Matt and I were up at 6:30, showered and enjoying breakfast there by 8! Also got in 2 nice miles of walking!

I found wonderful whole wheat strawberry muffins at Belle Haven Bakery

Which I ate most of but shared with Matt

Coffee from Shenandoah Joe’s, of course

Matt had an egg sandwich from Babes In The Wood

And finally, a donut from the Baker’s Palette. The smells wafting from their booth every week are absolutely mesmerizing!

We bought Steadfast Farm cherries, Jam!!!, sausage to take to the beach from The Rock Barn and a loaf of whole grain bread from this awesome bakery!!

Happy Weekend!

Sounds like a yummy start to your day
Glad you enjoyed the muffin! Your pictures are beautiful. Looked like it was a great day to be at the market. Tell Matt we enjoyed the loaf he brought out to Meade Park the other day. Ironically, I never have fresh bread in the house (go figure), and it was so nice to have one that wasn’t a “reject”. See you around the markets!
Hi Shiela! Hope to meet you in person soon!
what a beautiful morning and a great way to start the day! those muffins look delicious.
Looks fantastic! I’m headed down to my farmer’s market now for the first time this season. Looking forward to a massive muffin!
I could almost taste that muffin! All of the food looks so appetizing!!!
Those strawberry muffins look amazing! I actually don’t think I’ve ever had a strawberry muffin – crazy!
I always wanted to go to the farmers market for breakfast, and I wish I had because now I can’t! Well I could, lol, but I don’t know what I’d find without gluten! Lesson learned, seize opportunities while you still have them!
Headed out to Durham farmers market (as soon as a. Is done eating
). Definitely planning on a 2nd breakfast of some sort!
Oh, I love farmer’s markets on a Saturday morning! The best part for a poor college student is all the free samples:)
Everything looks great – There’s nothing like some good, local food!
looks great! happy saturday morning. I think I need to move to c-ville. hahaha.
Darn, I forgot to drive down to the city market today, again. Well, I guess I need a prompt on Saturday mornings, but today has got to be one of the best weather-wise!! Hope you had a great class
What a fun way to start a Saturday!
This is what sucks about working EVERY Saturday morning! I am so jealous of your cherries! Can’t wait until we have more around here
We are breakfast twins! I was at City Market this morning, and I enjoyed that same strawberry muffin for breakfast! They had whole wheat blueberry ginger muffins a couple of weeks ago that were wonderful. And of course, I just love GH muffins too!
I am absolutely in love with farmers markets! This morning after a nice run I was able to pick up eggs, sugar snap peas, potatoes, watermelon radishes(!), carrots, blueberries, beets, and squash! I love it when I don’t have to buy any vegetables from the grocery store. Oh, and of course lettuce from our garden
That egg sandwich looks SO good!
You two certainly had a super productive morning…by 8am! Wow!
The strawberry muffin looks moist and perfect (and so does the donut!)
What a fabulous spot! Perfect for a Saturday morning
Great day to go to the City Market! It is such a gorgeous day!!! Too bad I am so tired right now to enjoy it! We are going to have some fun this afternoon, though.

Oooo…. strawberry muffins… thank you for reminding me that I have some in the fridge. I think I will make some. Great idea!
After classes have Matt come up to Illinois this evening. I’m going to a beer tasting event that involves Canadian Breakfast Stout! (Not trying to exclude you but with the whole baby and frowned upon EtOH consumption, I don’t recommend you partake-ha.)
Mmmmmmmmmm you are torturing me!
I love the small town feel local markets give off! And Shenandoah Joe’s coffee is so good…it may be time for another order of coffee!
Looks like you had a lot of fun! I was wondering whether you like the Original or Garlic/Mushroom No Bull burgers more and also if you think you might be selling granola again on Open Sky anytime soon? My kids love your granola and we just ran out.
Thanks!
I like the original best!
And unfortunately we probably won’t be doing another sale anytime soon. My apologies!
Everything looks so fresh and incredible! YUM!
I love starting my Saturday morning at the farmer’s market. It definitely sets the tone for the day. I’m so jealous that you have fresh cherries right now. I don’t think we’ll have any for at least 3 months!
Wow, I love how you did that first photo collage, Kath! Which program did you use to make that?
Photo Grid for Android – thanks!
Looks like a great start to the weekend!
