Twinkle twinkle
Wish we’d had more time for a longer stroll this morning. We ventured out to find good coffee and headed back efficiently for breakfast. I’m going to YOGA this morning with Jenna!!
I remembered from my last trip to the area how good Flying Goat Coffee is, and lucky us there is one just steps in the other direction! I love the simplicity of the design in there – from their logo to the decor.
One medium cafe au lait please!
With that we picked out a Morning Glory muffin for crumbling
I love muffins with a good chew
More plain yogurt (saving my life this week for breakfast!) my first banana in DAYS (!!), strabs, and some Frog Hollow Farm granola.
Operation digestion – Jenna is on her way!
Today is going to be more low-key. We’re not even sure if we’re going to wine taste at all, but we’re paying a visit to the town of Sonoma before we head back into the city. One more night and we’re headed East. I am SO READY to get home. I’ve been gone 8 days now, and I think 7 days is pretty much my max vacation allotment. However, we have more traveling to do. It just so happens that this weekend is our 5 year college reunion at Davidson and we’re headed to North Carolina just minutes after we finish one large load of laundry on Friday. Not sure about Matt, but I don’t think this event will be a wild party weekend for me. I’m so worn out!

Banana! Excellent. I miss bananas if I don’t have one every day.
I’m jealous of your day and would love to be on vacation right now, but I also get what you mean about being away from home for so long. I love having a day of nothing when I get home, to vacation from my vacation!
love that last photo! so artsy
A cute coffee shop near my house has delicious morning glory muffins. I never thought to put them ON anything. What an awesome Idea!!
I think I’d be dying to get home at this point too!
Wow! Definitely a busy few weeks. Everything sounds so fun though- it’s always better to overload on the good stuff than on the bad
Enjoy yoga!
That is a ton of traveling! Don’t know if I could hold up. I’m a granny.
I know what you mean… it’s always fun to get away, but home is definitely where the heart is for me!
It looks like you’re having a blast, but I totally understand about wanting to get home. It was lovely meeting you at Foodbuzz!
I understand the feeling–after a week, I’m totally craving normal life. Going home will be that much sweeter!
Breakfast looks perfect. Enjoy yoga and your company and maybe some nice site seeing!
I love the photo of Matt by the newspapers in the morning light coming through the fog. So beautiful. I can feel the serenity of the moment just by viewing the photos.
I love vacations too — but they have to be short. I get so antsy to get back home and get back to “normal”.
Your breakfast looks amazing. I hope you have fun at yoga and make it home quickly and safely. College reunions can be fun.
I love chewy muffins too. Hope you have a relaxing day today – you’ve certainly been busy!
have fun getting your ommmm on.
I’m definitely a creature of habit, and vacations, no matter how wonderful, throw me for a loop. The best scenario is when I’m staying somewhere with a real kitchen (even if it’s a small one) so I can cook instead of being forced to eat out for EVERY meal. Our recent vacation at my grandparents’ cabin fit the bill perfectly in that regard, although the sleeping situation (two twin beds) was a bit of a drag for us.
that frog hollow granola was mmm mmm good! you must be exhausted, kath. i am from just foodbuzz and i didn’t even do half the things you did!
Yikes! You have been traveling a lot! Traveling is fun, but after a certain point, it just wears me out!
Your pictures are exceptional!!
Have a great yoga class
I bet your yoga class will help rejuvenate you! But I understand being away from home can be exhausting. Hope you enjoy your day.
If you get a chance when you’re in Sonoma, stop in Basque Boulangerie and get a cheese stick! They are really good.
The BF & I have been meaning to try Santi since they moved. Glad you & Matt have enjoyed your time in Sonoma County. It’s always interesting to see the place you live through someone else’s eyes.
I think a low-key day on vacation is the BEST!
I was nearing my breaking point at the end of SF too. It felt so great to be in my bed again. Good thing you have Matt with you though. Enjoy the rest of your trip and Davidson…try not to think about how exhausted you are and live it up. Pretend you’re a gypsy
.
I get so ready to go home after long vacations too. Looking back, I don’t know how I managed a 2 month trip traveling through Europe a few years back.
Oh my gosh, I know the feeling of being ready to be back home!
If you do any wineries, I suggest Jacuzzi on arnold Rd…they have olive oil tasting as well (SOOO GOOD) and the grounds are gorgeous! Plus there is a great little fruit stand down the road from it with tons of local produce….my hunbs and I loved it!!
Wow! You guys are always on the go–enjoy!
It’s so funny that you are all over my town. I teach yoga at Tone on 4th st. If you want some awesome Zumba (sweat out the wine!) you should mosey over to Tone!
Clare
i wish i liked bananas…people think im so weird for hating the nanners…
Yum, looks like you got all the most amazing stuff into that breakfast! Been craving muffins in yogurt lately in a big and major way!
Going 2 revisit The Girl & the Fig?
I think my comment got eaten. Comment boxes are not my friend today. It’s happened elsewhere twice!
Anyway, I was just going to say…I love Sonoma! And the sandwich I got at the Sonoma Cheese Factory. Pesto Jack cheese? Yes, please!
How fun! Maybe a yoga sesh will be just what you need to rejuvenate!
it is crazy how vacations are so amazing but sometimes it is just so good to be home!
If you can handle any more wine, you should go up to Gary Farrell. Their wines are excellent and the view is amazing! Kind of the opposite direction from the town of Sonoma though since it’s out by the Russian River.
Enjoy your relaxing day and yoga with Jenna! I need to find time and money to take a trip out to California…I haven’t been since I was very little and it looks like so much fun…great food, great wines, and great scenery.
Yeah, about 7 days is my max away from home. I get antsy after 3 days, TBH lol.
I am jealous! My s-i-l lives in San Fran and I have been to Sonoma both times I’ve visited. I’ve totally been to Bella and Sunce! If you have time, go to Hop Kiln, but not for their wines, for their mustards! Delicious!
The best muffins are the ones with chew. My favorite kinds are chock full of nuts, fruit, and whole grains. YUMMM.
Yum I love chewy muffins and bananas. The last picture is really pretty. I love the lighting.
Who knew colleges actually had reunions?! Beautiful morning photos!
The longest vacation I have been on was 5 days and I was SO ready to be home! But enjoy the rest of your trip! I love the creative breakfast on the go. Need to maintain some normalcy
Thanks so much for sharing, love your positive energy and spirit. I am a CA native currently living far from home. Thanks so much for taking us on your trip, I can almost taste the cool wine country air.
Last time I was in SF I had Cafe Gratitude on my list but never got in that neighborhood- but after reading your posts about it I think I will prioritize on my next trip!
Love the winery pictures- gorgeous!
Hi Kath! I live about an hour south of Napa/Sonoma and absolutely love wine tasting – especially with my hubby – and I’m living vicariously through you right now!!
You’ve inspired me to plan a special weekend for my husband and I and I’m wondering where you’re staying at during your visit and if you or Jenna have any other recommendations? Thanks!
We stayed at the Hotel La Rose. It was older and nice and not very expensive (or fancy) and included breakfast. I would recommend, though, staying at one of the Four Sisters Inns, like the Inn at Sonoma or Healdsburg Inn. They are a bit more $, but VERY VERY nice and still pretty affordable.
Awesome! I checked out your places online and they’re gorgeous – I’ll definitely be booking at one of those spots! Thanks so much Kath for your help and feedback!
Love the last photo – it’s like art! LOL
I know just what ya mean about wanting to go home after a while! Have fun for the 5 year reunion!!
Your photos (and breakfast) are stellar!
I love a good, long vacation, but I’m right there with you. Sometimes you need a vacation after the vaacation, just to feel recooped again.
Ah the visual I had from “Flying Goat Muffin”
Oh man, I’m sure you’re worn out, that’s a long trip!
Try and enjoy your last day. Some of my biggest regrets some from not enjoying trips enough because I was worn out!
No doubt you’re ready to get home! Even though your vacation has been wonderful, it’ll be nice to be back
oooh yes – what a great way to use the muffin! YUMMO!
I live in San Francisco and am an obsessive Blue Bottle drinker, but a guy I’m dating brought me some Flying Goat beans last week. I didn’t really know much about them prior, but consider my heart won in more ways than one! Very smart boy!
i know what you mean. i always feel like i need a vacation FROM vacation
drive safe and have a great time at your reunion!
I think I like that muffin just for the name. Morning Glory just sounds so happy
What a great breakfast on the run.
A week is about my vacation limit too. It’s nice to go away, but there’s nothing better than returning home.
Hopefully you’ll have lots of time to relax after your weekend in NC!
AHH! Kath! I am an avid reader and I just about fell out of my chair when I saw that you were staying at the hotel I used to work at until one month ago
I hope you liked it!
Oh cool!!!!! We had a good time
First banana in days !? I couldn’t do it. I have one every, single day. They are so good for you! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/del-monte-fresh-lifestyles/id386338875?mt=8
