I was freezing last night – with no AC on! Just two fans and chilly overnight temps outside. Such a contrast to last week – and what’s to come!
Thus, my cold breakfast was not totally fitting – I’m still wearing a sweater : ) BUT that zucchini bread over yogurt was on my mind.
I couldn’t decide between the two flavors, but I think I decided the cinnamony one is my fav. I mixed crumbled pieces (a small slice of each flavor) with peach and blueberries over plain greek yogurt – plus a spoonful of PB.
I had a little coffee leftover yesterday so I saved it in a jar and added equal parts milk to it this morning for a latte of sorts. I’ve grown to like my coffee black, but this milky version tasted pretty good! I’ll tell you one thing – I do NOT like sugar in my coffee anymore. I think it totally ruins the taste! That’s pure palate training there because I used to drink it with sugar or Splenda back in the day.
Today = an adventure!!

I wish it was freezing here. High of 102 today with a heat index of 110-115. Your breakfast looks delicious, great combination of flavors and textures. Enjoy your adventure!
I’m the same with my coffee- I used to add so much Splenda and now I can only imagine it drinking it with milk…the sweetness interferes with the coffee flavor!
Oh, that is the way I love my breakfast! Fruit, Greek yogurt and something crunchy (usually almonds)! This morning, I broiled blueberries, 1/2 banana, pineapple chunks, sprinkled it with roasted cinnamon and almonds, and then topped it w/ a dollop of Greek yogurt! My new favorite way to eat breakfast!
It is chilly here too this morning. Waiting for it to warm up so I can go to the pool for a workout. 100+ temps are due (in Charlotte) this weekend, so I guess I better enjoy the cooler weather now.
I wish I could trade with you. I’m stuck in Florida in the tropical storm, along with a broken AC for the past week in the crazy heat & humidity. We’ve been staying at KMFT’s parents’ house so we can steal their AC. =]
I reallllllly want some of that lemon zucchini bread. Mmmmnomz! I think I’ll have to make some. I love quick breads.
Oh dear…
You would think the rain would help out with the heat a little bit… But no. It’s fine while it’s raining, but in between the torrential downpours (yay Florida!), there’s endless amounts of sunshine and heat… And that, mixed with the humidity from the rain? Let’s just say I haven’t actually DONE my hair in a week. Ponytail all the way.
That is my perfect breakfast!!! I just want to reach into the screen and snatch it off your cute tea towel! Peaches, blueberries, PB, and zucchini “cake”…. YUM!
Mmmm those breads looks delicious!!!
I love cold air while sleeping! It just makes it a little hard to get out of bed in the morning!
I stopped putting sugar in my coffee because artificial sweeteners and white sugar upset my stomach (I use stevia for most things) so now I think it tastes awful when coffee is sweetened! I’ve gotten so used to it black!
I made chili last night just to pretend it’s Fall since it was so nice outside. Today? I’m setting up the umbrella to shade my plants on the lanai so they don’t fry!
Enjoy your day!
that. sounds. delicious.
yogurt + anything is probably a good idea.
I wish it were cooler in Arizona! I think Phoenix was about 110 yesterday and even living in northern Arizona it was around 95! I think we’ve had our AC running constantly for about a month already, which isn’t fun since I rather just get the fresh air!
I agree that loving black coffee is a acquired taste. I used to love mine loaded with sugar and half anf half, but now just drink it black most days!
Oh gosh – I hope I can like coffee without sugar one day. I’m trying to ween myself off of using one packet of splenda and it is HARD! Real sugar is just not as sweet and doesn’t do it for me. I can’t imagine no sweetness at all!
I used to have my coffee with 6 tsp of sugar in it. And with loads of cream. So essentially… it was pure syrup!
Now I have it once in a blue moon and I have it black!
It took me at least 5 years to wean myself off.
I can’t believe it’s chilly near you! I’m in the DC area and it’s pretty warm.
Yummy looking breakfast though, as always!
Oh that looks so bright and wonderful (a contrast to our weather here this morning which is cloudy.. rain pending!) I’m intrigued by this adventure.. can’t wait to find out more!
Yesterday was as chilly as it’s getting in Pittsburgh – back over 90 again tomorrow!
Your coffee looks like chocolate milk…
I have a question about your meals… When you add the fruit and nut butter, yogurts, cottage cheese etc… and take a picture, do you mix it all up after the picture to eat? It may be a dumb question but I never see them all mixed up… LOL
Nope, I eat them layer by layer, although I do dip down to try to get to the yogurt first.
I remember the first time I had a sip of coffee with splenda in it after I kicked my “splenda in my coffee” habit and I could barely stomach it! I have NO idea how I used to drink it that way. I completely agree that it ruins the taste. I still drink mine with soymilk – but nothing else!
i looove zucchini bread! my grandma makes the best i’ve ever had, and now i’m craving it of course.
Have a wonderful adventure filled day, Kath!
Kath,
Awww don’t wish for Fall already, summer just technically started! You are so funny, you always seem like you want the next season LIKENOW. Savor and enjoy the present, girlfriend.
Besides, it’s rained since school was dismissed here so far and the poor kids need as much summer fun to come as they can get!
I’m soaking up summer!! It’s just nice to get a break from 95*
oh that zucchini bread looks so soft, dense and delicious, it makes for a great breakfast crumble!
It’s hot here in Atlanta, but I went fall flavors…I had a repeat of vanilla, pumpkin, cinnamon oats. ave fun on your adventure today!
I had a very similar breakfast this morning! Yogurt with blackberries, peaches and blueberries, but no zucchini bread for me
When will it premiere at GH?! Best of luck today!!
Probably not until later this summer….or as a surprise. I know they are test baking some more today, so if you stop by this afternoon and special request they might have an extra loaf for you!
I envy your chilly weather – it’s soooo hot here. But my office is like an ice box. Go figure.
Ditto on the no sugar in my coffee – I buy the good stuff and I want to get the full flavor!
My favorite zucc bread recipe has a generous dose of cinnamon and either lemon or lime zest (depending on what we have on hand). My MIL gave us the recipe — very flavorful and usually bakes up with a creamy, almost custard-like texture.
Yummy combo! I love milky coffee! My boys’ dairy allergies while breast feeding (broke out in eczema across the forehead in both my boys) led me to try soy and rice milk as an alternate…I am now hooked to Soy Latte’s! (My eldest still has a dairy allergy, while my second does not)
Interesting combination! I never would have thought to have put zucchini bread in yogurt, but it looks good!
nom, nom, nom! Have a wonderful and adventurous day!
Cafe au Lait, Cafe con leche, Cafe Misto… all made with brewed coffee (not espresso like a latte) and milk. Just pick your country for the morning and feel all fancy! At least that’s what I do
You’re like me! As soon as I get (or bake) some kind of fun bread, I always dream about mixing it in yogurt as breakfast the next morning. I baked banana bread the other day &, sure thing, mixed it with vanilla greek yogurt the next day
“I do NOT like sugar in my coffee anymore. I think it totally ruins the taste!” – I’m the same way. It took 2 years of working at starbucks to cure me of ever wanting my coffee sweet. I totally burned myself out it. Now I always like a little 1/2 n 1/2 in some french pressed coffee and I’m good.
I used to like sweet coffee back in the day but have grown to not like sugar in my coffee. It’s become a “don’t even think about it!” but I will still take some warmed soy or almond milk.
Oh, that breakfast looks so good!
Great minds think alike! Yesterday afternoon I needed a little pick-me-up so I brewed a quart-size pot of Chai tea. At the end of the evening, not wanting to waste the remaining tea, I poured it in a glass, covered, and then enjoyed with a splash of milk and sugar (and 2 ice cubes) this morning. What a treat. Have a great day!
I’m enjoying writing on my porch for another hour or so before it hits 100 here! I’ll take a little bit of your cool weather!! Your breakfast looks awesome- that zuchinni bread sounds great!!
My parents have the same silver pattern! Are you eating breakfast with an iced tea spoon?
Yup!
I slept SO well last night too! And zucchini bread sounds amazing. I think I am going to have to make some soon!!
Yum! I love me a good zucchini bread. I’m sure those are incredible! Never would have thought to put pieces on top of yogurt, that looks amazing.
I find myself hankering for the comforts of fall already… It’s not even July!
Your latte looks delicious too!
I have never been a fan of the humidity in NOVA and I am with ya- I am ready for fall! I always prefer the flavors/weather/everything in the fall! PS- your breakfasts always looks SOO mouthwatering! Just love them and wish I had time everyday to make such an incredible looking breakfast!
I love the colors in you breakfast bowl. Looks delicious too!
Mmmm I just started making my coffee in a mason jar, and I love it! Perfectly portable
Our heat wave is beginning today w/mid-90′s today, but it’s nice and breezy out now! That zucchini bread sounds positively yum. Glad you got some good zzz’s. A good night’s sleep makes me feel brand new! I’m excited to hear re. your adventure…enjoy!
I really, really want to believe that I can train my palate to love coffee with no sugar. This is week four and I really miss the sweet! Ok, I have cheated a few times and that may be why. Time to get serious about this.
I agree about sugar in coffee…it makes it taste fake to me, like those cappuccino machines in gas stations…gag! It is currently 56 degrees in Seattle and I am still wearing tights under my dresses…brrrr! I am ready for summer!
I felt great on my run this morning In Charlotte! I think it was because the weather was so perfect! Wish it was going to last!
have fun on your adventure and your coffee looks so good right now to me!
I’ve trained my coffee palate to like black coffee as well. I used to ONLY drink it with milk and sugar, then I decided I needed to cut those calories out! Excited to hear about your adventure!
I’m drinking my hot coffee black these days, I gave up the cream last year. If I drink cold coffee, I do need some sort of cream in it and if I have espresso over ice (my favorite summertime coffee drink) I need cream and sugar. Just sayin… Have a good one Kath!
I have always admired your spoons that you eat your breakfasts with…..where did you get them?
They were my grandmothers
Aww! So cool! I love those spoons, too.
The yogurt combo sounds delicious!
I’ve found that my taste for sugar in coffee has changed throughout the years. I used to always “need” it. Then when I was pregnant, I couldn’t STAND the taste of sugar in my coffee. After pregnancy, it was back to sugar again. And these days, it’s just milk! My poor husband never knows what to put in my coffee for me if he gets it ready for me. He just accepts that it will always be wrong.
THANK YOU! I can’t stand coffee with sugar. I don’t know why but it tastes poisonous to me LOL. I generally don’t like sweet drinks, anyway. I don’t put sugar in my tea either.
I’ve been freezing for the past 2 days as well. It’s odd to be sweating buckets sitting still one day and wearing layers the next.
I’m a sugar in my coffee type of person. I’ve gradually cut back so I’m on my way.
Nights like that are my favorite for sleeping! I love windows open with a fan blowing.
I love nectarines!
I’ve been having it once a day, atleast!
Yes to sugar in coffee… Sometimes if the coffee is creamy enough, I don’t need it though
As a fitness trainer I have a few clients who will be interested in your site so thank you.
Nick
Oh man, some days I read your blog from work and am so jealous of all your down time! You really can (and do!) relax, almost constantly! I do love my job, however, and can’t imagine not doing it, but it sure would be nice to spend a few days on your schedule…wanna trade for a week?
I wouldn’t call it “constant” relaxation, but I am very thankful for my flex schedule
I know what you mean about sugar in coffee… It somehow doesn’t meld with the coffee like sugar does with chocolate, so the sugar flavor is too prominent and clashes with the coffee flavor.
Lemon is such a good idea for a twist on zucchini bread!! I think I will try that sometime soon…
I’ve tried to love plain greek yogurt but I don’t. I love the vanilla though.
Ever since I started drinking coffee over the past two years or so, I have never put sugar in my coffee. I just like milk in it.
