We did end up going for a run after all! Just a short turkey trot hair-under-a-5K with the dogs to rev our appetites for lunch.
And rev we did!
Emily told us about Le Pain Quotidien and it’s epic bread basket and amazing salads and we were sold.
We made our way upstairs and to a cute table overlooking the bakery
In the French spirit, cappuccinos were ordered
And bread was served.
We ordered the exquisite bread basket that comes with an array of spreads and breads
Including several organic hazelnut butters!
Definitely not the time to tell the sever to take away the bread basket. [In fact, never do that!]
We all partook in one of the most delicious bread displays one could imagine, including orange and berry jam and chocolate and brunette hazelnut butters
The menu was impressive well beyond the bread, offering a wide selection of organic, vegan, and gourmet options. I was especially impressed with the salads!
I decided on the Aged Goat Cheese + Arugula Salad with Parmesan and Pinenuts
It was fabulous, and I cleaned my plate. The goat cheese rounds were…exquisite!
It also came with more bread! I didn’t attempt to eat it all, but I did have one last taste for dessert
My dates all had really great lunches too – so fresh and so green, yo
Off to get hitched!

Love love love LPQ. It was one of my favorites places before discovering I was intolerant to gluten (figures, right -LOL). Your meals all look great
Oh my gosh, that bread looks incredible! I would have made a meal just out of the bread
The bread and spreads look amazing! Enjoy the wedding!
I worked at Le Pain in h.s. and it is the only chain I really like. Great choices! Have fun at the wedding!
Wow, what an amazing spread! The bread looks so tasty and the salads look really colourful and vibrant. A fab lunch!
All that food looks SO good!
Love the idea of serving the bread with nut butters.
Oh my gosh– I think I would have just ordered the bread basket for lunch, ha!! Have a great time at the wedding!
I love bread more than I love beer.
That, my friend, is saying something!
wow, that place looks amazing! I would definitely go just for the bread!
Oh, I saw that restaurant on the Food Network! Awesomeness.
I’ve been to the one in Georgetown — SO so so good!!
I love that place! So cute
Haha, this is too funny! I’ve been to a couple different locations of Le Pain Quotidien in the DC and I ordered your exact salad. It was delish. I love the peppery arugula. Yum!
I also get the cappucinos and their awesome.
Dang, a restaurant that serves peanut butter and ..is that a chickpea pizza?! How cool!
That bread basket looks dangerous, in a very good way. Its hard to judge the size of those nut butter jars by your pic though. Is it tiny, like you get a fresh one when you order or they are ones that have been used before?
They were big and probably had been used before. I did question the double dipping of others..
yea that would definitely bother me
What does Matt’s red shirt say? Is that a monkey face on it?
I would love to go to that restaurant: bread with nut butter? Yes please.
Viva La Evolution

Wow! So many nut butters!!! and that bread looks phenomenal. Dangerous, dangerous! haha
That cafe looks amazing!! The breads and spreads look amazing, perfect appetizer for the salads
Have fun at the wedding!!!
That long, thin bread with nuts/berries in it looks fabulous! Almost looks like biscotti.
I wanted to let you know that Libby’s Pumpkin hit shelves in Buffalo today; I’m sure it will be at your stores soon!
Here is Jersey too!
I grabbed 5 when I saw them at Stop and Shop, and I told the cashier, you’re the first store I’ve seen with them.
She replied “They just came in today–I’m sure everyone will have them soon!”
Wheee!
I flove that praline spread! I always go to Le Pain whenever I’m in London, since it’s right by my office there. Wish we had one here!
My gluten free belly is rumbling at the looks of that bread. Sigh.
WOW, brunette hazelnut? Have never heard of that. I am so impressed with the wide arrays of jams and spreads for the breads! Sounds absolutely divine! My friend was JUST telling me about this place yesterday. Will have to check this place out next time.
le pain is the greatest! we went all the time years ago when we lived in nyc and now there’s one just a 10 minute walk from me. wonderful place to write!
This place looks super fun!! With my crazy artisan bread/baking obsession, I would have had to sample it all
(and yes, I’ll admit, compare a little!…)

Those nutbutters look incredible!
Hey! They have one of those in Santa Monica! Isn’t it amazing?! They also have tasty lemonade. Really refreshing on a hot day.
Wow that place looks wonderful! The different breads sound soooo tasty.
WOW! The brunette hazelnut sounds great, and I bet that chickpea pizza-looking thing was tasty too. What a fun date!
yum I love bread, it looks awesome!
That nutty raisin bread looks so good…I would be in bread heaven.
The bread in Korea = white fluff.
I am longing for some bread with substance.
That spread looks divine. I thought that bakery looked familiar, then I realized I went there about 10 years ago when my mom lived in Alexandria- small world! ; )
Oh, wow! A cafe that serves hazelnut butter? Gosh, America kills me with yearning sometimes!
everything looks so good
After often visiting my two sisters who live in DC, LPQ became on of my fav lunch spots! I love the tartine selection. You should stop by Lauriol Plaza, 1835 18th st. nw.
ooh! A Le Pain Quotidien just opened up across the street from my office! I’ll definitely need to check it out! Everything looks delicious!
That salad and bread looks SO good! Have a fun weekend:)
Wow! I’ve never been to a place with nut butter options available for spreads, love it!
I would have so turned that bread basket into my lunch.
Everything looks so fresh, perfect, delicious. I love that they served organic nut butters as a spread! How fun is that?
the last thing i need right now is a cappuccino, but that’s all i’m craving now!
brunette hazelnut butters? Sounds so delicious!
I’d totally go this place to get the basket of bread! take away the bread basket? it’s a NOOOO for sure!
More restaurants need to provide for nut butter love. Anything with the word praline in it makes my heart flutter!
cappucino is italian, not french, FYI
I was gonna say that, too! It’s named after the Capuchin monks.
Mmm hazlenut butter would be incredible! I’ll have to try it sometime.

I love Le Pain Quotidien! Their bread really is amazing.
Looks like a great place to eat!
Bread and some delicious spreads, heaven.
