We did end up going for a run after all! Just a short turkey trot hair-under-a-5K with the dogs to rev our appetites for lunch.

And rev we did!

IMG_3771 (427x640)

Emily told us about Le Pain Quotidien and it’s epic bread basket and amazing salads and we were sold.

IMG_3772 (640x427) (4) IMG_3774 (640x427) (2) IMG_3775 (640x427) (3)

We made our way upstairs and to a cute table overlooking the bakery

IMG_3777 (640x427)

In the French spirit, cappuccinos were ordered

IMG_3787 (640x427) (4) IMG_3790 (640x427) (2) IMG_3788 (640x427) (3)

And bread was served.

IMG_3781 (640x427) (2)

We ordered the exquisite bread basket that comes with an array of spreads and breads

IMG_3785 (640x427) (3) IMG_3792 (640x427) (3)

Including several organic hazelnut butters!

IMG_3793 (640x427) (4)

IMG_3794 (640x427) (4)

Definitely not the time to tell the sever to take away the bread basket. [In fact, never do that!]

We all partook in one of the most delicious bread displays one could imagine, including orange and berry jam and chocolate and brunette hazelnut butters

IMG_3797 (640x427) (4)

The menu was impressive well beyond the bread, offering a wide selection of organic, vegan, and gourmet options. I was especially impressed with the salads!

I decided on the Aged Goat Cheese + Arugula Salad with Parmesan and Pinenuts

IMG_3805 (640x427) (3)

It was fabulous, and I cleaned my plate. The goat cheese rounds were…exquisite!

 IMG_3808 (640x427) (3)

It also came with more bread! I didn’t attempt to eat it all, but I did have one last taste for dessert :)

IMG_3804 (640x427) (3)

My dates all had really great lunches too – so fresh and so green, yo

IMG_3798 (640x427) (3) IMG_3801 (640x427) (2) IMG_3800 (640x427) (3)

Off to get hitched!

Love love love LPQ. It was one of my favorites places before discovering I was intolerant to gluten (figures, right -LOL). Your meals all look great :)

2 Camille September 18, 2010 at 2:59 pm

Oh my gosh, that bread looks incredible! I would have made a meal just out of the bread :)

3 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) September 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm

The bread and spreads look amazing! Enjoy the wedding!

4 Shane September 18, 2010 at 3:06 pm

I worked at Le Pain in h.s. and it is the only chain I really like. Great choices! Have fun at the wedding!

5 Stacey (The Habit of Healthy) September 18, 2010 at 3:07 pm

8 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg September 18, 2010 at 3:13 pm

9 Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks September 18, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I love bread more than I love beer.

That, my friend, is saying something!

10 Simply Life September 18, 2010 at 3:13 pm

13 Estela @ Weekly Bite September 18, 2010 at 3:33 pm

I love that place! So cute :)

14 Laura @ Blogging Over Thyme September 18, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Haha, this is too funny! I’ve been to a couple different locations of Le Pain Quotidien in the DC and I ordered your exact salad. It was delish. I love the peppery arugula. Yum!

I also get the cappucinos and their awesome.

15 Mary @ Bites and Bliss September 18, 2010 at 3:47 pm

Dang, a restaurant that serves peanut butter and ..is that a chickpea pizza?! How cool!

16 Kelly Michelle September 18, 2010 at 3:58 pm

That bread basket looks dangerous, in a very good way. Its hard to judge the size of those nut butter jars by your pic though. Is it tiny, like you get a fresh one when you order or they are ones that have been used before?

17 Kath September 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm

They were big and probably had been used before. I did question the double dipping of others..

18 Kelly Michelle September 19, 2010 at 12:22 pm

yea that would definitely bother me :(

19 holly @ couchpotatoathlete September 18, 2010 at 4:09 pm

What does Matt’s red shirt say? Is that a monkey face on it?

I would love to go to that restaurant: bread with nut butter? Yes please.

20 Kath September 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Viva La Evolution :)

21 Laura September 18, 2010 at 4:11 pm

23 Emily September 18, 2010 at 4:20 pm

That cafe looks amazing!! The breads and spreads look amazing, perfect appetizer for the salads :) Have fun at the wedding!!!

24 Caitlin (EatFeats) September 18, 2010 at 4:24 pm

That long, thin bread with nuts/berries in it looks fabulous! Almost looks like biscotti.

25 emily September 18, 2010 at 4:47 pm

I wanted to let you know that Libby’s Pumpkin hit shelves in Buffalo today; I’m sure it will be at your stores soon!

26 Christine September 18, 2010 at 7:19 pm

Here is Jersey too!

I grabbed 5 when I saw them at Stop and Shop, and I told the cashier, you’re the first store I’ve seen with them.

She replied “They just came in today–I’m sure everyone will have them soon!”

I flove that praline spread! I always go to Le Pain whenever I’m in London, since it’s right by my office there. Wish we had one here!

29 Katie September 18, 2010 at 5:12 pm

My gluten free belly is rumbling at the looks of that bread. Sigh.

30 Pamela September 18, 2010 at 5:12 pm

WOW, brunette hazelnut? Have never heard of that. I am so impressed with the wide arrays of jams and spreads for the breads! Sounds absolutely divine! My friend was JUST telling me about this place yesterday. Will have to check this place out next time.

31 lynn (The Actors Diet) September 18, 2010 at 5:15 pm

32 Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes September 18, 2010 at 5:51 pm

This place looks super fun!! With my crazy artisan bread/baking obsession, I would have had to sample it all :) (and yes, I’ll admit, compare a little!…)

38 Cara Craves... September 18, 2010 at 6:29 pm

That nutty raisin bread looks so good…I would be in bread heaven.
The bread in Korea = white fluff.
I am longing for some bread with substance.

39 Felicity September 18, 2010 at 6:45 pm

That spread looks divine. I thought that bakery looked familiar, then I realized I went there about 10 years ago when my mom lived in Alexandria- small world! ; )

40 Hannah September 18, 2010 at 6:46 pm

50 Rachael September 18, 2010 at 8:48 pm

More restaurants need to provide for nut butter love. Anything with the word praline in it makes my heart flutter!

51 Jean September 18, 2010 at 11:11 pm

cappucino is italian, not french, FYI

52 Tara September 25, 2010 at 6:52 pm

I was gonna say that, too! It’s named after the Capuchin monks.

53 Bee Goes Bananas September 18, 2010 at 11:56 pm

Mmm hazlenut butter would be incredible! I’ll have to try it sometime.
