Lots of excitement today! A few things I can share now, and one I’ll share in a week or so! BIG news!
(And I’m not signing a book deal, going on a fabulous trip or pregnant…since I know minds are wondering!)
First good news – our accountant says we’re doing our bookkeeping very well (and doing really well!) Woot.
The second fabulous thing that happened – a slice of Apple Crunch with nut butter during my afternoon meetings. Also had a few clusters. Hunger satisfied.
And the third…I called AT&T to see if I could sweet talk them into prematurely approving me for a phone upgrade…since I’m a loyal customer and all…and they said YES! Like, without even a second thought – “Sure we’ll let you upgrade today.”
I practically FLEW to the AT&T store to get…the Samsung Infuse! Matt and I are phone twins (and have pink + blue cases because they were 50% off and while pink is not my favorite color, I couldn’t turn down a deal..) I considered the HTC Inspire because I really like HTC phones, but after reading some reviews, it just couldn’t keep up with this guy.
BIG SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been wanting one since I got my HTC Aria. Small phones may seem appealing at first, but the screen size is NOT ideal for a blogger! NICE camera!!! Better features!
Old vs. new
Which would you rather read blogs on!?
Very very happy with the purchase, although I’m still getting used to the phone and its differences.
Dinner tonight was a quickie because I have lots to do to prepare my phone, self and suitcase for my trip tomorrow. Healthy Living Summit round 3!!
We whipped up this dinner in under 10 minutes! And made it up on the spot.
Quickie Sauté:
- 1 eggplant, cubed and sautéed in coconut oil
- A handful of garden tomatoes, sliced and thrown into sauté with a few minutes left
- 1/4 cup Pumpkin Chipotle pesto
- Goat feta crumbles
- Egg on top!
- Smoked salt from Whole Foods
And a Oreo Truffle for dessert!
Have a great night friends!

I feel special knowing ALL the news of your life weeks ahead of time
. Love the pink case!
My lips are sealed!
News? What news?
Eggs on top of dinner is always a good idea. Can’t wait to hear what the big news is!! YOU’RE GETTING A PUPPY????
Congrats on the books. Trust me, I know that is a great thing! Our business is a lot smaller than yours and easier on the books, but I still wait on pins and needles to see if I balanced everything ok. Dinner looks delicious. I love a fried egg on my veggies! YUM! Have a great night Kath.
Ooo, I’m fairly certain I know what this news is too – whee!!!
Such a nice phone, I get such phone jealousy through the blog world… everyone can blog and take cool photos and tweet from anywhere! I’m stuck in the 90s apparently with my phone. Can’t wait to hear the exciting news!
I just got an iPhone a few days ago and I am loving it– HOWEVER, you are bringing some tough competition to the table
Can’t wait to find out the big news!! Wish I was going to HLS! Send me a swag bag perhaps? LOL! #wishfulthinking
Ooo – I can’t wait to hear your big news! I’m bummed I’m not going to be at HLS this weekend – but for good reason – my brother is coming to visit me!
I love your new phone – the screen is HUGE! I just got an iPhone – The Boy bought one a few months back and we really wanted the ability to FaceTime when he is on business trips and the like. I love it – and have the KathEats App/widget!
Exciting and quick = that’s what she said! Heehee
I can’t wait to hear your good news!
What is the news?? To do with the bakery…I’m so bad with “surprises”.
On another note – is that an iphone? What do you – or readers – recommend for a good phone. I use mine a lot for work – texting, checking email, etc. – I have an upgrade eligible but don’t want to get something over the top or too expensive. Too much technology is draining….I want to like sit on an island in Hawaii somewhere and just breathe in life.
That is awesome that ATT let you upgrade sooner! Love the new phone! I Just got my first smart phone and feel like I was technologically deprived before hand! Can’t wait for the big big news – but I think that fact that that bakery is doing really well is superb news itself!
Big news that isn’t a baby or book deal? How about a house? Other than that, I’m stumped!
Congrats on the new phone! So glad that they didnt bat an eye at the early upgrade. And of course, lovin the pink case!
“(And I’m not signing a book deal, going on a fabulous trip or pregnant…since I know minds are wondering!)”-
those are the 3 things that people always ask me too if i say i have news and dont talk about it. so now i disclaim myself with that, too.. haha!
Congrats on nailing the bookkeeping. It’s not easy just being in business and doing the food/cooking/retail side of things….the behind the scenes, finances, numbers, etc..that’s a whole other animal. Glad you’re all over!
I figured I was out of luck for HLS, but a last minute ticket became available and I jumped on it! I just moved to Philly, and despite not having a blog of my own, am hoping to meet some other Philly ppl. Fingers crossed I’m not the only one w/o a blog! See you there
Jealous! That phone looks awesome, I’ve wanted one for a while but keep putting it off assuming a newer version will be coming out soon-hens why i’ve had the same phone for over 4 years- it is a fighter though! ; )
Just upgraded to a Samsung myself and am loving it!
Looking forward to your big news …
Big news!?! – you didnt mention anything about a TV show;) can’t wait to hear the details!!!
Well done for doing well- that’s great – congrats!!!
My honey and I are thinking about switching to smartphones. I’ll have to look at the one you got. We were considering getting iPhones, but just aren’t sure.
Can’t wait to hear your other big news! Have fun at the Healthy Living Summit!
YAY for the new phone!! I love my Samsung – hopefully you will be as pleased as I am
I really want an oreo truffle now…heck, I’d even settle for just the cookie at this point…
Safe travels to Philly and have a great time – wish I could be joining you al!!
eeeee! have a blast in philly. i’ll be leaving the area just as all the bloggers are arriving. what sadness. except… it’s for vacation. i guess not too sad.
Pretty sure eggs complete almost any QUICK meal
Have a fun trip–love the new phone case!!
EXCITING news?!? Can’t wait! (thanks for telling us what it was not, that way we’ll wonder even more! That was very kind of you!) …New phone! Hope it’s awesome!
Have TONS of fun at HLS!!!! (especially for all of us that can’t go!)
yay for the new phone!!! And an egg on top? What a good idea! More protein and delicious egg yolk!
You are one lucky duck. Sprint wouldn’t budge when I tried to sweet talk them!
Bigger phone screens are so much better! People should not have to squint to read their phones
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
You’ll LOVE the new Samsung!:) I Have a Very similar model – it is great!
How exciting! I just got the newest iPhone recently and I am BEYOND excited still!
Good job on sweet talking the AT&T people…wanna give me some tips??
Actually AT&T ususally (like 99% of the time) lets you upgrade up to 6 months early if you have a two year plan. So you can pretty much always get an upgrade after a year and a half.
They let me do it after 12 mos
From what I hear, At&T is losing a lot of business to Verizon and customer service is under strict instructions not to lose any more business. If a customer wants an upgrade, they get one (ya know – as long as it isn’t every week).
I love how you through half the speculation out the window immediately, haha! excited to hear the news, whatever it may be, soon!
Anticipation builds! I am super jealous of your whole foods salt bar — perhaps I can request that at my whole foods!
I’m so with you on large phones/screens! I was never into tiny phones– even the iPhone and HTC Android is too small, I wish it were the size of a home phone, lol!
Can’t wait to hear your news. Congrats on business booming and your new phone!! All things to be excited about.
I love all the happy news. Your blog is oozing with excitement!! Love it!
Safe travels! I can’t wait to meet everyone at HLS.
Congrats on the great accounting & the new phone! That phone is pretty similar (at least in size) to the one I have – Motorola Droid X, which I love! I can’t imagine having a smaller screen now…
Pumpkin chipotle pesto. Every time you say that, I yearn.
Guess that BlogHer session on techie phones really rubbed off! New phones are fun. Especially now that they’re basically mini computers! YAY!
yay re: everything! and the big news…
No iPhone?! Not gonna lie I kindof like that one bettaa!! I prefer my Droid to the iPhone, 1000%
Wheeeee g-frand I can’t wait to meet youuuu!
Whoa that egg looks incredible and I don’t even eat them….yummmmm
Looks super yummy for preparing in 10 minutes
Yay for new phone and good book-keeping! Can’t wait to hear the other news
I love pulling the ‘loyal customer’ card out…always does the trick
!
Your posts always leave me craving bread. Wonder why
Can’t wait to hear the news!
YaY for the new phone! Loving the pink case. Cant wait to read about the HLS events.
So glad to hear everything is going so well with the bakery – you are both doing such a great job with it!
AWESOME about the new phone. That screen is incredible!
Can’t wait to hear the news!
On a completely unrelated note, I’m vegan and have always made my overnight oats with almond or soy milk. Last night, I decided to mix them up with soy yogurt… sooo good and so doughy! Gonna use yogurt whenever I have it on hand now! Thanks for all the amazing breakfast inspiration!
I’ve been tellin’ y’all that yogurt is key!!! Glad you found a vegan solution
You were so right, should have listened long ago
.
I’m getting a new phone shortly too.
why didn’t you go with the samsung galaxy II S (dual core)?
Because I have AT&T?
Ah! I’m not American, so I’m not aware of the phones provider by each cell company.
provided, not provider.
Yeah, the rule our lives!!
COngrats on the big screen! I am still loving the sound/loos of those Oreo truffles
It doesn’t matter what’s under a fried egg because a fried egg makes any dish fabulous!
Oooh, AT&T is my cell phone carrier so maybe I could try to sweet talk them into an upgrade too. I’m loving the looks of your new phone, Kath!
I can’t wait to hear the big news!
And congrats on your bakery doing so well. That’s amazing considering it’s only been a few months. You guys are doing an awesome job!
Good choice on not getting the HTC Inspire. I switched from an IPhone to the HTC Inspire. I have to say that I hate the Inspire!! Sound is horrible, it freezes up, texting is difficult and now it seems to be making random calls. In September I was going back to an IPhone, but now maybe I’ll consider the Samsung. I have had Samsungs in the past and always liked them.
Ever since seeing you use smoked salt here on KERF I knew I needed to try it. Then, I went to my TJ’s about a month ago and there it was … I was so excited to try it. …and it did not dissappoint. I must say, my favorite use so far has been on grilled corn. I’ve been spraying them with a bit of canola cooking spray and sprinkling with smoked salt, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and pepper. Yum yum.
Any hopes of leaking the Oreo Truffle recipe?
Have fun at HLS!!
It’s in the comments of yesterday’s post
Nice..thanks!
Nice phone!! So jealousies
Can’t wait to hear “that” good news!!!
I just got the Samsung charge (verizon) and I’m still not sure about it. It feels so huge that it’s hard to hold in my little hands. I’d like to be able to run occasionally with my phone and snap photos, but I guess I’ll have to get some kind of belt or something if I want to run with it…or just strap it to my hand.
See you at HLS! Looking forward to meeting you!
On the phone on hold with ATT now to try to get a phone upgrade – they are saying they NEVER do that and it is not available for anyone. Guess you got the one nice customer service rep. I’m still stuck with a dead iphone that won’t charge for another 6 months!
Oh no. How long have you had the phone? I was ALMOST due for an upgrade, so that’s why they did it. I had to get supervisor override. Perhaps my length of time and packages with AT&T helped?
I have until Jan. for an upgrade.
The person I spoke to was very convinced that it would be never be done so I didn’t push too hard – although I mentioned I had a friend who got a new Samsung phone upgrade! She said, not possible – hah. I’ve had AT&T for years – my family is the most loyal customers (my dad works for them) but maybe we are so loyal they figure we won’t go anywhere. Apple offered to sell me a “new” iphone for $199 – how nice
But they won’t do any tech support without a phone contract for $30 bucks. Guess I’m just stuck with a wonky charging iphone for another couple of months!
Aww that’s a huge bummer. Maybe they knew about your dad or something? Is your warranty over?
You’re killin’ me!
Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Can’t wait to hear the BIG news!
I finally got Ted to upgrade to the iphone. We love our phones as well although we’re still “smart phone challenged”.
Have a safe, super great trip.
I want to try that with T-Mobile. I’ve had terrible customer service with them, which I find funny because they are supposedly rated #1 in customer service.
Good point about getting a larger phone for better blog reading. I always think smaller is better but you bring up such a great point…it should have been obvious to me but in the blogging sense, bigger is definitely better! I will keep that in mind when my time is up to renew!
My phone is so old and outdated (like I don’t even have a smart phone, aps, or internet access). I will be calling AT&T tomorrow!
I totally agree with your phone philosophy… I have a horribly small screen on my phone and I can’t read blogs on my phone it’s awful! On top of that pictures aren’t real great either… I can’t wait until I upgrade someday!
Question – what do you do with the old phone? I always wonder this – do you give it back to the store to recycle it? Again, as someone who’s never had a smartphone and is using one being held together by tape right now (yes, it’s true) I don’t have too many old phones to get rid of and what’s considered old right now would be new to me. just wondering as I know people upgrade a get new ones all the time. It does look like fun – enjoy!!!

I know you’re in the midst of moving right now but when you get a chance, I wanted to see why you switched from an iPhone to the Droid. I’m deciding between the two. iPhone users seem to be diehards so it’s hard to get a good opinion! Do you like the Droid because of the bigger screen and the google products?
It’s ALL about Gmail and Google everything. It’s amazing. You need to go to a phone store and try one out!!
