Eat Me

Good eats tonight!!

We started the evening with some cocktails (mostly to numb my horrible aching coffee head!). I had a mini Manhattan made from the drips of Matt’s. Mmmm!! He really does make a great drink. See the first in his “Old Man Drink” series over at Brew and Bake.

Of course, I spoiled my appetite tonight. I must be insane because everyday I always think it won’t happen, but it always does!

I am so lucky getting so many great products to sample! These four scrumptious cereals came in the mail. I cracked open the Sunflower Agave Plus Granola this afternoon and boy it is good! It’s got a nice nuttiness that reminds me of peanut butter from the sunflower seeds and is slightly sweet and super crispy from puffed brown rice pieces and oats.

IMG_2516 (1024x768)

This bowl was a base of 3 giant strawberries with about 1/2 a cup of soy milk (heated) and about 1/3 cup AgavePlus. Mmm!

IMG_2535 (1024x768)

This succulent burger wins top 5 of the past year. It was from the last piece of our frozen grass-fed tenderloin. We He ground it himself with our KitchenAid meat grinder! We’ve got a little leftover, so not sure how we’ll use that up.

IMG_2553 (1024x768)

I topped mine with ketchup, mustard, pickle and avocado.

IMG_2550 (1024x768)

On the side: Kelsey’s Blue Cheese Slaw. OMG – so good!!!! You know how cake is just a means to serve icing? This slaw is just a means to serve blue cheese! I doubled the recipe and used heaping tbsp of blue cheese and olive oil mayo. I could have eaten double this portion!

IMG_2558 (1024x768)

And there’s one more little pickle on the side there! I think I kind of overate today. I just feel really full and like I didn’t listen to my hunger and satiety cues very well. The only meal I ate today that I was truly hungry for was my cereal snack, and that’s because I’m always hungry at 5:00! New project for tomorrow, I suppose :)

As for me, I’m going to get the house in order and then stay up to watch the newest Office! It’s a rare occasion that I don’t have to get up on Friday morning for Food Lab, so we’re celebrating by watching live.

Kath (or any iron gurus out there!),
I really need to get more iron in my diet, but am clueless as to what foods (except spinach, which I don’t like) are rich in iron. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!!!

Yummy–looking burger by the way :)

Great idea to grind your own meat! Do you think it would work in a food processor, or would that result in over-grinding?

Lauren (food+hands),
Yes, I forgot to say those were Dakota bread buns!

Organic Girl aka Ashley H,
I’ll check and see!

Alyssa ,
Do you eat meat? Red meat is the #1 way to get iron because the heme iron in meat is much easier absorbed than plant iron.

Heather ,
I didn’t get to watch it!! We were too sleepy. I will tonight though!

Just a head’s up- Megan’s Munchies has a virus on that contest link. I clicked on it & when I went to close out the window, a million IE windows starting popping up. I tried to close my browser to no avail. In the end I had to disable my modem to get everything under control.

Thanks for the head’s up Heather. I took it down. Was it on her end or my end, do you think?

I would think the problem is/was on her end as the issue started when I left her site, not when I clicked on the link from your site.
