This morning was one of those ideal dream mornings that we all wish would happen every day. I woke up in fresh, clean, white sheets to birds chirping and sunshine coming in my window. I did 20 minutes of yoga and came down to have breakfast on the patio. I am soaking it in while it lasts! Soon enough I’ll be at my summer internship, then back in school and stressed, then completing my 40-hour-a-week dietetic internship and then who knows. My goal in life is to make my career accommodating to these type of pleasurable mornings.
Today’s oatmeal was, of course, delicious.
The mix:
- 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup soy milk, 1/3 cup water
- Pinch salt
- Half banana
- 1 tbsp dried raspberries
- Splash vanilla
- Few tbsp Kelsey’s granola
- 1/3 cup blueberries, stirred in at end so as not to water down oats but still heat up
- Spoonful Maranatha AB
Plus a cup of Novus jasmine green tea from Mara.
The bugs kept at bay and we were able to dine together outdoors
Breathe!
I was thrilled to write the feature article for Breathe Magazine’s summer issue! It looks so professional – I can’t believe it’s my writing and photos. The free magazine is distributed throughout the Southeast and Midatlantic states. See if you can find one! I’ll be writing some blog posts for them as well
And here’s more KERFness over at Gather – A Taste Of Decadence.
I’m off to mow our 2 foot tall grass. Then perhaps bike to Trader Joe’s for a secret ingredient that Kelsey and I are putting into dinner
Have a beautiful day

Those mornings are the best!
The oatmeal looks delicious, the newsletter looks fabulous and looks like an all around beautiful day. Enjoy!
It was wonderful this morning here too in D.C.
my granola bar is FAMOUS!!! I need a copy of this breathe magazine!!
Sounds like a wonderful morning and one that shouldn’t have to be restricted to weekends or vacations! I would LOVE to someday be able to have those mornings all the time. Enjoy them!
Also, I LOVE your oatmeal bowl – where did you find it?
Glad you are back Kath! I must say..it was cool of you to have guest posts because i never even knew about half those food blogs.
Have a great relaxing week!

Sounds like a great morning – love waking up to the birds chirping and the sun shining. Congrats on the article too – that is really cool for you!!
Congrats on the article! Totally inspiring!
beautiful oats, and that morning does sound perfect
OMG OMG OMG OMG I loved your Gather article, Kath!! It was perfecto. And oh-so-true. I find the more I stay away from things, the less I want them! And I never, ever, ever, just eat “half a dessert,” a “square” of chocolate, or “1/2 tsp” of peanut butter. It’s easier for me to just avoid my trigger foods than to have a “just a taste” regularly. Bravo!
Congrats on the article, Kath!
Enjoy the rest of your [hopefully sunny] day!
I really enjoyed the guest posts too but I’m glad you’re back home!
We need our morning oats

Nice snack, my kids loved it.
I just went to the Breathe link and I really like many of the articles featured. Yours was a fun read. The intro describes me to the tee. Well done!!
Sounds like a great morning! I should have some mornings like that more often!
I think your life (career) goal is a good one. I’d love to not do the 9-5 thing, but that’s where I am now and don’t see that changing anytime soon. Good for you for making your career fit your lifestyle, instead of the other way around!
congrats on the article!!
so great to hear you had a relaxing morning after getting back from your trip. CONGRATS on the Breathe magazine article — fantastic!
The Breathe article looks great Kath!
A bit unrelated to this post…but, I wanted to let you know I think the pimento cheese spread you featured here a couple of months ago is amazing. My husband loves it too. I made it for dinner last night melted on whole grain bread with a side of tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. Delish!
Thanks for the recipe!
Congrats on the magazine article. It looks fantastic.
I like the sound of your morning, keep that vacation mind set going for as long as possible!
Remember how you had that scary cockroach in your house a few weeks ago? I had a bat in my apartment last night! SO scary
Those oats look great! Simple, yet healthy and delicious!
Congrats on the article Kath! It looks so professional and you did an awesome job writing it. Great tips and advice!

I’ve never really been able to get into oatmeal….but you make it look so appetizing, I might have to try it again.

Morning is my favorite time of day. Looks like you had a gorgeous one
Your magazine feature looks great!
Congrats on the article Kath, it looks fabulous. You should really be proud!
Beautiful article!
I’m assuming your dried raspberries are unsweetened? I have the hardest time finding unsweetened dried fruit around here – all I can find is apricots!
I’ll have to bug my mom to check HT & Whole Foods and mail me some
Glad you’re back. Though I did enjoy the guest spots, and found a few new sites I didn’t have in my reader that I really liked!
my college roomie just released a yoga video!
Totally sounds like a heavenly morning, and glad you are back!
I can believe it…one of the many reasons I enjoy your blog so much and keep coming back is because of the OUTSTANDING, professional-quality photos. You rock.
Lisa ,
Thanks
