THANKFULLY there was no rain this morning, but we can feel the hurricane in the air
So here’s a cheerful breakfast to brighten your day
I was up at 6:30 after a restless night. There was a stink bug crawling on my arm, and both Matt and I had trouble falling sleep. I think we tossed and turned for 2 hours. It’s SO humid, but not hot enough to put the AC on.
Insta-cereal in a jar!
A mix of Quaker Oatmeal squares and Oikos (both from HLS!), banana, blueberries, chia seeds and peanut butter residue
Awake tea to try to keep me awake during our slicing event..
The Jefferson Sprint Triathlon was held pretty close to our house, so I walked there. Didn’t want to risk a downpour on my camera, so I just took my cell phone in a plastic bag.
Extremely impressed with the camera on the phone – and loved using this Retro Camera app!!
Athletes swam in the Fry’s Spring Beach Club pool and then biked + ran from there.
Bread on the other side!
So thankful the rain held off!!
It’s funny, but you’d think I’d be inspired to go exercise after slicing bread at a race, but it always wears me out!! All I want to do is take a nap. I’m sure the weather doesn’t help! Perhaps I will settle in on some yoga as a compromise.

I hope you guys stay safe with the storm coming!
LOVE the last pic of you two! So sweet!
I really wanted to introduce myself to you at HLS, but I was too shy when I saw you, next time I will not be! Have a great day!
Awww I wish you’d said hello!! I’m shy myself
Yeah I wish I did too! If you are going to foodbuzz, I will say hi and not be shy this time, haha!
If it makes you feel better, I did that too about a month ago. But I kinda went out of the way to go to the bakery and say hi and didn’t. Haha, oh being shy can sometimes suck
I know it can! I try to tell myself to quit being shy!
Love the “vintage-ey” look of your photos!
Wow, the camera pictures are legit! Sometimes I consider getting a nice smartphone just for the camera… it might be better than my dinky little digital
Hehe. Hope you guys don’t endure too much craziness with the storm, and that you get a nap — I can definitely understand why slicing and serving hungry athletes all morning would be an energy drain!
Wow, your camera takes really good pictures off your phone! I tend to have to apologize for mine on the blog when that is all I have as they are grainy and really unless it is super sunny, awful!
I love the photo of the bread, do you guys carve the grain into every loaf??
Freshly sliced bread after a triathlon?! Talk about motivation to finish!
I like how those pics look! Very neat
Did you contact the race to sponsor your business or did they contact you?
If you did, then how did you know about the race?
Just curious as I have a business and was wondering.
thanks!
We contacted them to see if we could slice.
You can do a search on active.com to find local races.
Looks like a great Morning!!:)
I hope you stay safe through the hurricane! I’m sort of worried for all my east coast friends!
Looks like a such a treat for the runners. And probably a good arm workout for you and Matt.
Kath and Matt, stay safe and take care!~I truly hope everything works out well for the East Coast. Praying for y’all!
Love that app on the camera, those pics are pretty darn good for the phone! The dreary weather is not motivating me either to workout. I have my workout clothes on but can’t seem to summon the desire to actually do something!
Wow – nice pics from a phone.
What does Matt’s shirt say?
“Save a Cow, Eat a Carb!”
I agree – you should take the day off and probably watch some HGTV. I mean, you NEED ideas for your new house, right?
Indeed!
Love the pics and your OIAJ looks insanely good.
Hope you guys are hit too hard!
Watching other people exercise totally wears me out! Bizarre, I know.
Naps are necessary, and refreshing!

Stay safe, Kath! Watch out for Irene
Stay safe girl! Pretty sure I’d be staying inside rather than racing on a day like that, but I’m such a weinie when it comes to scary weather.
Be safe girl!
How perfect that you are helping out at the race. Gh bread sounds like a fabulous fuel.
How do you like that pb?
Like it!
I love that you support local races and events. I always enjoy when business support their community!
A nap and yoga sound like a great way to spend the afternoon!
P.S. I dream about that bread after having it at HLS. A.MAZING.
I will seriously buy an iPhone or Droid just for that photo app.
Hope you guys don’t get hit too bad by the storm!
That last pic is cute. Are there other businesses serving food as well? Or other foods available?
What a fun app for the phone! ……Looks like one great morning and the bread is calling my name. If I ever make it down you can bet I’ll be stopping in to say hello!
(and eat a lot of bread!)
I think yoga is a perfect compromise for a stormy day. Curling up with a good book sounds pretty ideal, too.
Oooh I LOVE that retro app as well! The one I have on my phone is not nearly as good.
Love that picture of the tent – it looks so awesome and if I were someone running a race and knew I had that to come to at the end, I would be one happy camper
I agree a good book and more fresh cinnamon swirl bread sounds perfect…
Stay safe in that weather! I hope you get to catch up on some sleep tonight. I might have screamed if I found a bug on my arm upon waking up!
What app are you using on your phone – i love it! I am taking a rest day today – sort of unplanned, though, I woke up all headachey and with a runny nose.
good luck today!!!
Those racing events you guys slice at always look so fun! So great that you get involved in the community like that!
Wonderful last picture of you and Matt! I’d just take the afternoon off and cuddle!
I want Matts tshirt- hilarious!!!
awww! FUN! Love the photos. STAY safe
Those picture effects are so cool! Stay safe!
heh I used to feel the same way after the farmer’s market…so tiring! I considered all the prep, baking, and selling a workout in its own on Saturdays.
I know what you mean! We volunteer at marathons doing the same thing, except in the form of making PB & honey sandwiches for all the runners. It’s exhausting!
Great to see you at the tri today Kath! Thanks for coming out and bringing delicious bread. Can’t wait to buy myself some Dakota and some CVille Crunch
Hey Kate!! It was fun hanging out. Hope to see you soon!!
glad things are okay there – I’m getting nervous here in Boston but hoping we don’t get too much damage!
The weather has been making us extra sleepy, definitely the pressure. If we lose power, that might be the only thing we can do anyway, lol.
I love the retro picture apps! I need to download one. Fun
I had to laugh when I read “peanut butter residue.” Mmmmmm… “residue” has never sounded so good!
I encourage you to take a nap… I am going to as well! Body is telling me to rest!
Wow your camera takes great photos!
I’m always too tired to exercise after working too. I tried to go on a run after my 8 hour shift today, but I only lasted 10 minutes before turning around!
Man. I would love a phone that took pictures like that. My 4 year old blackberry has something like a .2 megapixel camera. It’s awesome. Though damage is serious, hurricanes are really fun. The feeling around town is this awesome camaraderie… have fun!
I have the hardest time volunteering at races…because I hate being on the sidelines! But I would give the world to have freshly baked bread waiting for me after a race. Usually, all they have is junk. There may be a table of sad, overripe bananas, but there is always a table full of doughnuts or Chick-fil-a biscuits. I’ll never understand it…give me bread!
WOW! I dont know how you do it. Everytime you say that you dont have your air on, I think about how uncomfortable I would be if we didnt have our air on. Unfortunately one night this past week our air conditioner broke and we had to go a night without it and it was humid in the house. I could not sleep and I was thinking about you because I knew that I could NEVER do it.
So is it really only because you dont mind the warmth that you dont turn it on or do you think that air conditioning isnt “green” or “eco-friendly”??
I just like fresh air. Sometimes it is really hot, but I just like breezes and the sound of crickets. I think AC feels so fake. When it’s 100* outside, I love it. But when it’s only 80*, I think breezes are better
I hope you’re okay with the hurricane! Have been thinking of you all throughout today!
That is a great app! I have hipstamatic on my iPhone but really like the look of your…unless it’s hipstamatic as well?
