Hi friends!
I’m at a loss of words this morning. Things are a bit slow moving. Hopefully the energy in this bowl is traveling to my head as I type!
The Vita-Mix
- 1 handful ice
- 1 small banana
- 1/4 cup Vega Choc-a-Lot (which I LOVE!)
- 1 big handful spinach
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup frozen berries
On top:
- 3 spoonfuls raw oats (wanted more chew so I put them on top instead of inside)
- 2 spoonfuls Galaxy Granola raspberry flavor (from my sample pack) and I love the raspberriness and dried raspberries!!

You guys sure filled up my blog to-do list yesterday with your topic requests. I find it funny too that on a food blog I got more requests for organization than food
I won’t be able to write on ALL of those topics, but definitely some.
As for organizing my life + blogging during my busy spring/summer with my dietetic internship, I talked about all of this in my HLS presentation which should be online and viewable here!! Powerpoint included.
The presentation covers:
- Healthy eating on the go
- Packing lunches
- Managing a blog while working full time
- A bit about my organization system (but I ran out of time!)

Matt and I have a few Great Harvest appts this afternoon, so I’m squeezing in stuff this morning. Yoga is being replaced by running today. I’m getting so hooked on the noontime yoga classes that this is a tough switch!! If my life could only be yoga, running, biking and walking for ever and ever, I’d be totally happy. I’m really loving living an active lifestyle rather than having to go to a gym to work on on a machine. However, I’m sure my opinion will change when it’s 20* outside!

Thanks for posting your HLS presentation!
Yeah, my love of the gym definitely increases every time the temperature drops five degrees
I love the organization topics!! I’m putting together some presentations for corporate wellness presentations that I’m doing, so these idea brainstorming sessions are very helpful to me
I am off to check out that presentation! I always am so curious how you manage it all.
Ha! It’s good that you live in an area where you CAN run, bike and walk places
I’ve told Jason that when we buy a house, I want to make sure that the town/city has walkability! I get sick of having to drive everywhere to workout. Good luck with your appointments today and I hope you have a good run!
So excited to see the presentation! So glad the presentations are up!! =)
I hear ya…I want my life to be just that too! Rub that buddha bowl for good luck getting the brain fog out. I need that today too! Good luck with your meetings. I hope they go well!
I love a good mix of time in the gym and just outdoor living activity. Probably because I adore lifting weights.
Hope you have a good day!
I think leftovers are easiest for lunch!
wow will check the presenation for sure,..thanks
Definitely going to check that out!
Mmmmmm…a power SIAB? Nothin’ better.
BUDDHA BOWL! Haven’t seen it in a while.
I’m savoring this weather too with all the exercise possibilities outside. Soon when winter hits I’ll be sad to workout inside:(
I am also a HUGE fan of the Vega Chocolat Shake and Go Smoothie mix – ever since HLS I have been buying bags of it and have been having it in some way shape, or form everyday!
i am in dire need of organization tips – I just don’t think it’s in the cards for me…
Hi Kath,
If it’s not too late for a topic request….how about guidelines for sample meal plans for weight loss the healthy eating way. I am working at losing about 25lbs and have been getting some great recipe ideas off your blog along with some others I read but I find after an initial 10lb drop I’ve kind of stabilized. I work out and eat healthy but I suspect it has to do with portions and the sampling of the healthy baking I do for my kids.
Thxs
I need to try this Vega Choc-a-lot – I did not like the original Vega chocolate powder (I think it’s called health optimizer?) but i keep seeing rave reviews of the choc-a-lot.
Love the Budha bowl
Thanks for posting the presentation, I can’t wait to check it out! Your breakfast looks so good.
I totally agree that an overall active lifestyle (and exercising outside in general) kicks the gym’s butt any day!
The smoothie looks delicious! And thanks for linking your presentation! I need all of the organization skills I can get.
this post has been favorited!
I can’t wait to view your presentation.
ps. I so want a buddha bowl!
great presentation!
I’ll check out your presentation later today!
That buddha bowl is so adorable. I love the color!
I love the vega choc-a-lot, but I’ve run out and can’t find it anywhere
Back to hemp protein and cocoa powder I go.
Haha, it looks like your readers promptly crashed the site with your HLS presentation!!
I agree with you about exercise – I love to do it (preferably outside) as part of an active lifestyle vs. going to the gym, which I really hate. Being at home doing research and writing my thesis gives me this freedom at the moment, but I already dread the day I go back to full time work – often leaving when it’s still dark outside, and again, returning in the dark.
I do bike to work most days of the year, however, so I usually get at least a little “natural” exercise, even on the busiest of work days.
Yay for SIAB. I had the best chocolate green monster yesterday, mm. I think a yoga/biking/running/walking lifestyle would be awesome. I’ve been thinking about walking/biking more and driving less… of course that requires me to get a bike first.
Breakfast looks delicious!
Thanks for the link to your presentation!
Good luck at your Great Harvest appointments!
For some reason when I go to check out the presentation, it gives me an error message saying that too many people are accessing it. I guess it’s very popular
; I’ll have to come back.
I love the organization topics. maybe you need a whole seperate blog loL! GL today
I am so happy the webinars are up! I have been waiting to watch them, can’t wait. You are the organization queen!
I can’t wait to watch your presentation – you are so organized, it will be great to pick up some tips.
Hope your breakfast got you going – I always find mine does!
You are a savvy organizer.
I find it so hard to go the gym when I have fun group classes and lovely weather for walking. It all seems interminably boring!
Kath, I love you coffee cup with the K on it! Where can I find one?
Anthropologie!

Enjoy your day! Keep those fall recipes a comin’ !
This is my first year living somewhere with actual seasons and I am a bit worried about my running schedule! Luckily my university has an indoor track, so hopefully I can still stear clear of the treadmill beast!
Yay thanks for the tips Kath! I’m going to check out the presentation now. Have a great day!
I can’t wait to see your presentation!
Thanks for posting that presentation! I can’t wait to watch it!
The gym’s my buddy but I’m with you on living an active lifestyle over gym time. It’s much more fun that way! Plus, you get to do so with people you love.
I totally agree about being so active. My activity levels have gone WAY up since being in Colorado. I don’t have a job, which obviously makes it so much easier to make more time for that stuff. Still really have no idea what I want to do with my life. Architecture jobs just don’t exist right now!
I’m the same way- I wouldn’t mind never going to a gym again, if I could choose!
I don’t even want to think about it getting so cold again that it’s impossible to exercise outdoors! How is it already September?? I’m working on setting some new fitness goals for when the weather turns cold to keep things interesting. I’m gonna get ripped.
I think I’m gonna eat this for lunch
Yes, that’s what I love about Cali. I don’t have to have a gym membership at all! Love it!
I think your readers crashed the server where the HLS presentation was hosted. I was watching it and had to stop and when I went back it said the traffic volume was high and to try again later. I look forward to watching it later!
I’m having the same problems as Lesley. Thanks for posting it though! I’m such a nerd about being organized. Maybe its because a lot of bloggers are full time workers/students so adding a blog means we have to be super organized about our lives.
I know I’m definitely going to miss being so active outdoors! It gets below zero here, so I will definitely be utilizing the gym then. *shudders*
Thanks for the presentation post! Alot of the topics on it are very helpful to me.
Hopefully we can still make suggestions on topics – I would be interested to learn more about what you did in order to lose weight. I think someone else mentioned this, but what is a healthy balance of calories and when you were going through your weight loss journey how often did you workout, what intensity etc.
I’ve already watched a couple of the HLS presentations but not his one. I guess I know what I’ll be doing tonight!
I’m really not looking forward to having to pack lunches again once classes start. I’m sure your presentation has some great tips though! I’ll definitely check it out.
thanks i’ll have to check out your presentation!
20 Degrees? here it gets to -40 and there are STILL crazy people jogging!
I had intended to only watch a bit of the presentation, but I got hooked and watched the whole thing. I am really disorganized person by nature and I always want to get my act together. I feel better when my apartment is clean, my lunch is packed and I’ve done everything I need to…
…unfortunately, my apartment is usually junky, my lunch is usually packed in a chaotic rush as I head out of the house in the morning and typically, I’m always doing things at the last minute!
Things to work on! Thanks for sharing your presentation with us.
I feel the same way when the weather is warm–I never want to go to the gym! But come Wintertime, swimming loses its appeal and the treadmill/elliptical/bike looks verrry inviting.
I can’t wait to check out your presentation!
topics look great.
Smoothies like that are always a refreshing way to rejuvenate a not so good start.
Kath, I’m so jealous of your ability to lead an active lifestyle! I have to resort to gyms due to time constraints, but I’m hoping after hubby and I get a dog, I’ll have more of an excuse to go for early morning runs!
Alyssa
Love the presentation!
Question…what was the planner that y’all gave away? I couldn’t quite understand the name…Thank you!
I don’t remember – but Sarah @ The Shu Box will.
Topic suggestions: Why do you eat certain foods and supplements and why should I add them to my diet. ie: chia seeds, flax, organic items, vega choc a lot. Thanks!
I eat them ALL because I like the taste/texture! Rarely do I eat things for nutrients alone. Even veggies – I think they taste great.
I’m with you on that active lifestyle preference. Believe me, you’ll accept the 20 degree weather and go with it
Kath,
Dustin and I have really been into “life organization” lately, especially Dustin. It’s such an important topic, because it directly influences your healthy habits and diet.
Jenn
Thanks for posting that presentation! I’ll have to check it out, now that my life has gotten a whole lot more busy and hectic with classes starting again!
love love love that bowl so so so much!!
Oooh, what a berrylicious bowl! Fantastic!
Cool podcast!!!
