Cloudday

January 22, 2012

What kinds of activities do you do on a cloudy, rainy SunDay?

More LOST!

20 minutes of flow yoga.

Shower.

Quick smoothie for lunch pre-theater. [Frozen berries, milk, yogurt, half banana, granola, spoon]

Then we walked (in the rain!) to meet a couple of friends to see The Descendants. Since the bakery opened we have been less social, so I’m trying to plan more Sunday activities. We were supposed to hike, but instead we got cozy with a bag of popcorn!

I haven’t had theater popcorn in ages! Like coffee, it smelled better than it tasted. But it still tasted good.

The movie was good – a pleasure to watch which always pleases me even if the plot is so-so (this plot was good, not great).

The movie ended with a scene of the family sharing big yellow bowls of mocha chip and strawberry ice cream on a couch. So original plans for coffee afterwards (“to discuss the film”) turned into ice cream cravings!

Half the group got coffee and the other half, gelato. Coconut + Cookies and Cream for me!

We just got an invite for dinner at a friends’ house (with LOST!) so we’re excited to complete this day of fun!

Did you say you are less social? Oh my gosh, that must make me a hermit! :)

Glad you enjoyed your movie, hope your dinner and Lost are fun too.

I love planning culture days with my fiends and making sure we take time to talk about them afterwards (especially when treats are involved!) Glad to hear the film was a winner!

I love love that first picture and overhead shot. It’s gorgeous. So simple, with the mauve/purple against the dark wood…so striking. Lovely click!

what a fun afternoon! i have been trying to make more of an effort to get out of the house on the weekends. it’s so easy to get sucked into the couch and cozy pj’s, but important to get out for some fresh air as well!

sounds like a great Cloudy Sunday. Yum on the smoothie. Ended up seeing Undworld (thumbs down) and Red Tails (very good and I am not a historical/military type of gal).

Enjoy dinner and watching LOST. ;)

Me and 8 year old my daughter have a weekly date for Once Upon a Time. It is great to see a show that is good for all ages. Tonight’s looks really good, and I think Kath would like it since it is written by the Lost writers. We watch it on DVR at 8:30 because it has sooo many commercials. Do you notice that?

I had a smoothie today too! Kind of odd, since it was so cold today, but sometimes a smoothie is just the right thing to quench your hunger and thirst! :)

Isn’t LOST great? A friend of mine loaded the first four seasons of it onto my iPod and I was so addicted to it, I watched every episode in one week before the start of the 5th season. Those season ending cliffhangers were insane! I have no idea how people could wait a whole year for the resolution.

28 Sneakers2Sandals January 22, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Ahh Lost is addicting! I watched it in college and then a little out of college. Most people do not like the way it ends! I’m excited to see what your opinion is.

This just reminded me that my hubs and I haven’t been on a movie date in a reeeeeeeally long time. Like not since the last Harry Potter came out. Hmmm, I’d like to think it’s because there’s nothing good out there to see, but sadly I think it’s because we don’t have much of a social life. Oh well. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie… and the popcorn.

I can’t even remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater! Might have to rally & fix that, but it’s SO nice to cuddle up at home and watch movies when the weather is gloomy!

I loved that movie. The younger sister was such an interesting character. Also, you’re making me nostalgic for my days of being addicted to LOST. I’m not nostalgic for the show; I’m nostalgic for the addition to it! I need to get into something new. I don’t have cable, so my options are painfully slim.

Ha! Love how the movie inspired you guys to get ice cream afterwards- that’s some kind of hidden advertising! I’m not a huge fan of movie theater popcorn, and my husband always gets it. Inevitably I end up eating some, even though it doesn’t taste great- the smell does me in!

Long time reader, first post! My husband and I went to see it last night! I thought it was great to watch (but like you, the plot was so-so) I may be partial though, but we live here in Hawaii, and most of the film was shot here in and around our neighborhood! (Oahu parts, not Kauai) I broke my ankle, and had to go to Queens Hospital myself! Started my fitness journey, that started my blog reading obsession. Full circle! Love KERF! Aloha!

So true about popcorn- smells phenomenal but I always find it way too salty after a few handfuls! Mixed sweet & salty popcorn, however, that I can get on board with!

More social? I tought you guys were really social already. We always see friends and family on the weekends like Friday and Saturday, but Sundays are “our” alone time for me and my husband. We don’t see each other that often during the week, as we don’t work the same schedule, so our Sundays are for us! Movies, cooking and spending time together.
