Cheers from Lakewood, NJ!

January 8, 2008

It’s even warmer here! SO crazy. My sister and I got up and did about 3.5 miles of running this morning. It was great to get moving and although it was less than I would have liked, I’ll take it!

We had toast before we left as the sun rose:

Before we left my grandparents’ in Towson we had breakfast – my grandmother made a HUGE batch of bacon. I will always associate the smell of freshly cooked bacon with her house, as she always makes it nice and crispy for us when we visit. I had 2 slices :)

I whipped up a batch of rolled oats on the stove top for my sister, grandfather and I (made with water only today). I added cinnamon and brown sugar and topped it with walnuts! I love the blue china!

All together with a cup of water:

After a 3-hour drive to New Jersey, we went out with my family to Applebee’s around 1:30. I ordered grilled chicken and portabella on a wheat bun with a side of fresh fruit off the Weight Watchers menu. I would have gotten a salad, but we’re going to Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse tonight and they have a HUGE salad bar. My sandwich was great – loved the mushrooms and it wasn’t so big that I was stuffed. I could have used a little more fruit though! Marinara sauce on the side:

Here’s me, my grandmother (who is 87!), my sis and my cousin, Becky.

Hi Kath! It sounds like you're having a GREAT time! :) Your grandma looks very happy to have you girls there. So sweet!

Hope you have an equally great time the rest of your week. Drive safely!

Kath – I just wanted to let you know I'm so impressed that way you are keeping healthy even on vacation! It's truely great how you fit in exercise and find healthy things at resturants. I'll keep the portabella burger in the back of my mind for the next time I go to applebee's (my family LOVES applebees haha).

Keep up the good work and enjoy your vaca!

Your whole family is so pretty. Is your sister naturally that thin? That would piss me off.

Hope you had a great time in MD! You def. lucked out on the weather! It was in the 30's last week…and above 70 today! Maybe you should come around more often and bring some of that warm weather with you!

You guys are all too cute, and look like quite the happy family! You can always adopt me, if you like, I can never have too many families!
