Cheerio!

May 16, 2009

I slept much better last night with a cooler room and ear plugs, but we’re running on only 6.5 hours of sleep :(

We’re also running late because there was a THREE INCH ROACH in our bathroom this morning! Thankfully Karen saw it first, she’s much braver than I am and actually showered with it nearby. I was standing up on the bed on the lookout.

Three cheers for our hero: Kanzi!! He rescued us bravely (but reluctantly) and I was able to shower calmly. Whew. There is something instinctually terrorizing for me about them. I know they’re not going to hurt me, but I convulse just thinking about it.

I was in the mood for cold cereal this morning. I had a teeny bit too much wine last night and am feeling a little parched. So I dove into the Cheerios, which are a good option being low sugar and with some fiber to ‘em.

Complemented with half a banana, 2% milk (yum!), and more Flanigan Farm’s Trail Mix

Plus a shot of OJ

And a shot of coffee -

We’re all dressed up and walking to the Superdome for graduation. I’ve got an array of Clif Bars for us to have mid-morning because we’re not having brunch until 2pm!

Another totally healthy hotel breakfast Kath! I love seeing how you are able to have your own healthy eats while traveling… definitely giving me some good ideas! And that trailmix looks so good. What a great mixture.

Have a wonderful time at the graduation today! :)

OMG Roach! I literally would have gone un-showered for the day – or had to move rooms…even though there were probably roaches there too…eeeeeeek!! Have a great – roach free – day!

I’m (unfortunately) the roach killer in our house. My husband is terrified of them. So, I take the bugs (I used to live in Australia, and the bugs are so big there, you get used to them!), and he takes any other critters (we’ve had incidents with frogs and bats before!)

i absolutely love how you’re always prepared for everyone that you’re with! I try to be like that, especially on road trips, i think it makes me feel like a dork, but when we save money, everyone’s like AWESOME! and i feel better when we have food with us instead of buying!!!

I hate roaches so much. They’re a fact of life in warm climates- but I still squeal when I see them. Eeek.

Ew. Roaches. I saw a ginormous one the first night I moved into my apartment and nearly had a heart attack. Thankfully (knock on wood!) I haven’t seen any since. Blech…

And your breakfast looks delicious! Hotels, take note…

I went through such a cheerios phase awhile ago and they are just so good. I never liked ‘em when I was younger, but last semester I could not get enough!

Glad you were rescued from the roach :)

I am with you on roaches! I am probably even worse, the other day I saw a random bug on the kitchen counter after dinner and proceded to throw up like a crazy person!

I don’t know how you managed to make me crave a bowl of cheerios, but you just did! :D

Thankfully I have yet to encounter a roach, but I’m sure I’d share the same reaction as you! Ick!

Eek, I hate cockroaches. I had a huge, dark black spider in my room last night that kept running away, and I couldn’t fall asleep because I knew it was in my room somewhere! THE WORST. :(

Hope the graduation is super fun! :)

Just caught up on the last post too- I saw that flavor of Mad Dog at a party last night! Haha. We were making fun of it because it’s called “Banana Red.” Uh, what’s the red?

Girrrl you know how to work a hotel breakfast! Lookin’ good. Have fun at the graduation ceremony!

Roaches are the worst. Just be prepared if you ever come to Texas because we have roaches that can fly!!

I’m really enjoying all of your photos from your weekend away! It looks like you are having so much fun.

I hate roaches! When I lived in Australia there were SO many of them!!

They’d come out of our toaster in the morning when we put our bread in. So gross!

How was the graduation ceremony? I was just watching ELLEN on DVR (she’s my fave!) and she mentioned that she will be doing the commencement speech at Tulane! how neat!

You’ll have to tell us how it was when you return.

Enjoy the rest of your trip! :)

Hey Kath,

What do you think of the adminstrations recent attack on Cheerios? Are they serious?!

Or do you think Cheerios really is engaging in false marketing?

I love Cheerios in the morning so would be curious to hear your opinion.

Thanks!
