And Carrot-Cucumber-Kale Juice
And Caftea Chocolate Cherry Cordial Coffee mixed with Christmas Blend decaf
And Chia Seed-Cottage Cheese oats with Cacao Bliss and Cacao Nibs and Carrot Raisin Walnut Muffin
And Cute Husband to share it all with
And CHEERFUL.
Which I am NOT.
I never, ever, ever want to have more than ONE alcoholic beverage in a night. There is absolutely nothing good that comes from alcohol!! I only had about 2-2.5 normal-sized glasses over the course of FIVE HOURS last night. No problem for the normal person. But for my pure self (Katherine translates to pure) it was enough to make me Cranky when I got up this morning.
Relative to my hungover college days, I feel fine. But relative to how I feel on a normal morning, I feel like Crap!
Didn’t sleep well, am dehydrated, the works.
I had planned to make green juice for Matt this morning so that worked out well as an energy tonic.
Kale + carrots + cuc + orange + lemon
Love how it always comes out looking like rainbow sherbet
It came out quite lemony but it was nutritious and delicious!
I had plans to make pancakes this morning but I decided on the day of L.O.V.E. I should make my favorite breakfast
Unfortunately it wasn’t very good
Well, it tasted great, but I just wasn’t in the mood for this combination. And was feeling really shakey and "stomach might eat itself" starving so I wolfed it down
The Mix:
- 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, pinch salt
- Half banana
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
Toppings:
- Carrot Raisin Walnut muffin from Great Harvest
- Cacao Bliss frosting
- Cacao nibs
To prevent the Caffeine headache:
What a fun C-inspired breakfast!
But K is still the best letter!!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Ooh I’m sorry you feel so rough! I don’t drink anymore, so I know the feeling!! Was it worth it at the time?
I hope your day perks up a bit! That juice should help :p
Looovve your oats combo, it looks fab
Aw, Kath, what a bummer! I don’t have much alcohol tolerance either, so I’m sympathetic to your unhappiness this morning. Listen to that tummy and give it what it wants. I hope you feel better soon and have a LOVE-ly day
(A pun just for you!)
Cheer up, Kath!! (I would have made that C in orange and large font if I could) I hope that veggie juice cancels out all the alchy in your body. HAPPY V-DAY LOVELY!!
I am the same way, I am a major lightweight in my old age
I love my green juice to taste lemony. My current fav combo is beet, cuke, romaine, lemon, carrots.
Even when I was in college I was done-zo after 3 drinks! There are few feelings worse than a hangover! Hope you can shake the lousy feeling soon!
I hope you feel better. Going for a nice walk always helps me. Exercise is the cure for everything I think. Wait, no, chocolate and peanut butter are, but exercise helps!
That’s a lot of C’s!!!
Sorry to hear that you’re feeling bad
Yeah, I definitely cannot have more than a glass or two of wine now without feeling it. Such a change from my college days!!!
Oh no! Sorry to hear you had a rough start to a day of love!
Drinking a lot gets to me too! It’s frustrating because I loooove the taste of wine! But one glass is pretty much it for me too!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Feel better soon!
Aww, sorry about how you feel. I woke up feleing very achy, but for other reasons–horrormones!!
Your oats look great anyway.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Jenn
Ugh, I hate the after affects of alcohol, too! It’s so fun…during… but, the after stinks!
Your breakfast looks good to me! As does that chocolate coffee – YUM!
After a few drinks, I am always STARVING and a little shaky the next morning. I wonder if alcohol affects blood sugar levels? Your green juice looks very cleansing!
Bummer you’re not feeling well! Your “C” post is super cute though!
Have a great day!
Aw Kath hope you feel better!!! I’m sure all that green will help. And I know how you feel. One glass of wine and I feel it…
For the record, your oats look amazing!
When I drink, I can never sleep well either. I toss and turn and am up early, feeling dehydrated and crappy. I’m with ya girl!
Sorry you woke up not feeling to swell this morning! I wanted to thank you for the idea of drinking tonic water with a lime while out and about. My husband and I are needing to save money to move for school. But I still love going out to watch live music with my friends, so last night I had tonic water with a lime and little black straw all night
I probably saved $10-$15 dollars (including the tip)! I try not to drink much anyway but find myself needing something to hold or sip on, so this works great! =) I may have to ask them for a cherry next time!
Your post is so energetic that you totally fooled me about not feeling well. Hopefully the day will turn around for you and that green juice and nutritious breakfast will help. Have a wonderful Valentines Day!
yikess sorry about the hangover. you’re right–at least it’s not as bad as the ones in college. glad you had fun with your friends though and now you have the day to recover.
I feel the sane way a morning after drinking but yet I still do it a few times per month. I love socializing with my friends and its usually over beers or margaritas at our fav places. How do I wean myself of of this!!
Where did you get those bowls??? They are Cute!
CB2!
Don’t worry Kath! It happens to us all.
you’re adorable…i love how every post is still fantastic even if you’re not feeling so hot! hope you guys have a wonderful day today!
hangovers are rough..hope the green juice can get you back up and running!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Funny you wrote this because I was feeling the SAME WAY this morning. Not that I drank a lot (2 beers!), but my body was NOT ready for my hockey game this morning. I have a headache, am dehydrated, and just don’t feel “clear”. Not worth it!! 1 drink only is my new goal for evenings out — even though I love the taste, too much is just not a good thing! Happy V-day!
I would like to pay you a compliment. I just recently started reading your blog, and I am hooked. I like your blog because it is not anal retentive. A lot of healthy food blogs are like that, but I can really tell that you take great pleasure in eating the way you do, which is an inspiration. I can tell your heart is in it. ( instead of your head)
Also, I like the fact that you EAT! Eating is normal, eating is human!
Thank you for the effort you put into this blog.
Thank you so much!
I’ve been following for a little while now and decided to finally comment. Love all the food you eat and it inspires me to incorporate new things into my diet as well. Like the green juice. I’m pretty bad at getting out of my little food box sometimes but I need to! And I think maybe I’d like it! Thanks for being real. Look forward to reading more!
Thanks!!!
Sorry you’re feeling yucky. I’ve actually thought the same thing about alcohol. For me, there’s really nothing good about consuming it. I drank my fair share of it in college, and over the past year (I’m 28 now) have barely drank any. I truly do not miss it. All it does for me is throw my entire body outta whack!
So sorry you aren’t feeling well this morning! I don’t drink so I can’t really relate but I’m sure it was probably worth it at the time!
Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope you feel better soon.
well, everything looks amazing but i’m sorry you didn’t feel up to par! Hopefully you feel better soon. I love your juice at breakfast but I don’t know if I could stomach veggies that early in the day? I guess you can’t knock it til you try it though
I’ve been following your blog for a bit (after googling oatmeal recipes and stumbling across it!) and you’ve inspired me to try all sorts of oatmeal combinations!
I love your bowls & mugs, so cute!
btw that green juice also looks absolutely delicious- what kind of juicer do you use??
(I’ve added you to my blogroll, also)
A Breville Juice Fountain
Lovely breakfast for V-day
Feel MUCH better, Kath. Enjoy your day!
C if for chocolate for me today. Hunni bought me the sugar free kind since he knows my stomach can’t handle the sugar.
Sorry you feel cranky. Hopefully the coffee and juice will help.
that looks like I great breakfast, I totally understand you on the hangover! It stinks big time!!
That juice looks amazing, send me some!

Gong Xi Fa Cai – Happy New Year, Year of the Tiger
Couldn’t agree with you more about not having more than one drink a night! (I’m lucky to have more than one every two months, to be honest!) I can’t understand how people willingly constantly drink so much and feel sick so regularly!!
On the up side, I love the way the light on your glasses of juice makes it looks layered in a diagonal pattern!
happy vday and happy chinese new year! make sure to eat some noodles today for a long life!
Sorry to hear you’re cranky today! I’ve gotten to the point where I only like having 1 or 2 drinks in a night or I start to feel like garbage.
Your breakfast looks great – as does that juice!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
K
love all the Cs! happy valentine’s day to you, hope you feel better! alcohol has teh same effect on me :/
Aww, I’m really sorry to hear that your morning didn’t go well.
I mean that in 100% honest sympathy – I totally know what it feels like to wake up in a not-so-great mood / feeling, and it’s probably one of the worst things that I can experience.
I hope that your day gets better! Have a happy Valentine’s Day~
Happy Valentines Day!! Ohhh seeing your French press coffee is making me drooooolllllll. Sorry you feel so crappy
Hope you have a good run with Emily!
Hi Kath! Sorry you aren’t feeling great this morning, but I hope that it turns around and you have a splendid Valentine’s Day!
I asked you if you considered a dog, and you mentioned a daschaund – I actually have had one for 14 years, and I couldn’t ask for a sweeter, more loyal and better companion than she’s been. She really knows how to brighten ANY down day with just a glance. I think rescuing one is a great idea! They are amazing dogs, not to mention adorable
Awww glad to hear it!
That juice does look good! I hope you feel better!!! I don’t like to dirnk because I don’t sleep well…so I generally avoid it!
Ugh… I’m sorry you are feeling crappy. I hate that feeling. It really isn’t worth ruining the next day for a couple of drinks… Ya know? My limit is 2 and that’s it because I know how crappy I’ll feel the next day
Drinking and hangovers are soooo much worse as you get older! Hope you get to feeling better! Happy Valentine’s Day!
I hear you on the hangover front! If I have more than a glass of wine I wake up feeling super dehydrated and cranky…not fun. Hope you feel better and enjoy your valentines day!
cute post, love it! Happy Valentine’s day!
Aw, “pure” Hillary is feeling icky after a night of drinking too =/ Green juice sounds like a great idea. Hope you have a lovely day and feel well soon!
awww i hope you feel better! People around me say that ginger and lemon tea is the best for those headaches!
Yeah, feeling hungover is probably the worst feeling ever. Happy Valentine’s Day though!
You oatmeal looks good, I’m a big fan of oatmeal and chocolate, epecially on v-day
Happy Valentines day
Happy Valentine’s day to you!! I hope your day gets much better and your system is able to eliminate all those toxins that are making you feel like crap!!
Enjoy the day with your hubby! You deserve it!
Happy Valentine’s Day! I love your mugs and bowls. Where do you get them?
Crate + Barrel, CB2, Pier 1
Wow. And I thought the green monster I had for breakfast was healthy. Your green juice makes my green juice quiver in fear!
We have GREAT HARVEST in our grocery store…I just noticed it today. I GOT the cinnamon roll bread. amazing…..wow…you are lucky to have the baker in your house
Yay
Love this post but don’t love your [C]rummy feeling this morning…lame!! I feel the same way with alc. The other night I indulged in 3 glasses of wine but chugged water alongside and big glass before bed. It worked like a charm but it’s a pain to remember to do! That juice is gorgeous!!! I want a juicer waaaaa
I hate how alcohol makes you feel like crap (especially post-college days). Red wine is the worst for next morning crankiness too
K is by far the best letter!!
I still like to drink, but make sure not to have any alcohol at all the night before a long run. It makes a huge difference! If I have even one drink the night before, I can definitely tell.
