My bowl of oatmeal looked awfully similar this morning, woop woop! Enjoy your bike ride! I took a killer spin class this morning, it was AWESOME!
i LOVE the mug, I’m glad you showed it in better light than before. I’m on the hunt for a t-shirt like that linen. I love biking
Have a good one!
Ditto on the mug! It is super cute! Target has a “I love my bike” shirt but it is BRIGHT pink and definitely not linen!
OooOO a t-shirt sounds so cute!! I’m sure there are plenty of cute ones like that design
i’m having some hot oats today too in honor of the cool weather! can’t wait cause I haven’t had them ALL summer!
Love the cute tilt-a-whirl bowl again and LOVE the fact that oats are coming back!!
I’ve seen that mug. Very cool.
I found the fig butter at TJ’s last week, and I literally needed to pull myself away from it. I’m afraid that, if I buy a jar, it’ll be gone in under a day ; )
Your fig butter +Barney Butter looks like a team logo. (TP)
yay for the portlandia shout-out! where did you find your mug? i’m really enjoying the cool air and long shadows of these late summer mornings. definitely my favorite time of year!
I would like Andy Schleck to bring me coffee in that mug tomorrow morning.
I LOVE the mug – I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere. Fishes Eddy maybe? Regardless it’s adorable. My breakfast post title was a result of my mug/bowl as well – haha.
Fig butter sounds just incredible – I don’t know that I’ve ever even seen it but I’m definitely going to look harder next time I’m there.
Have a wonderful day at the bakery – tell Matt I’m happy for him that he’s going to get a rest! Haha
You need a smaller bowl – the oatmeal doesn’t fill it up!
Cute mug.
Omg. That Portlandia clip made my morning! haha
I love the shape and color of that bowl — it is adorable!
Yum that breakfast looks amazeballs! The best thing about cooler weather is nice warming breakfasts
Get thOse feet a pedling
The bike mug and placemat are the cutest ever! I’ll be looking to try Barney Butter next time I’m in the States
I want those bowls so bad! And that mug is adorable
.
I love the color red of that bowl! It reminds me of cooler weather and Fall that is right around the corner!
I just bought the TJs Fig Butter last weekend– LOVE IT!! In order of “in love-ness”:
1. TJs Pumpkin Butter
2. TJs Fig Butter (but its a close call for #1 or 2)
3. TJs Honey Apple Butter
4. TJs Mango Butter (disappointed)
Yes, I obsess over these.
I was going to ask how the fig butter was in comparison to the mango butter because I was pretty disappointed with it too. I have been adding a little to my plain yogurt to get rid of it and it’s not happenin’. Thanks!
The fig butter is definitely much thicker than the mango (which I found pretty drippy), so be ready for a consistency change. But if you like figs you will love the taste for sure!
Fig butter sounds awesome! I am currently loving fig infused vinegar (not on oats of course!) and now that I know fig butter exists I might have to track down some of that too!
I had no idea TJ’s had FIG butter! I need to make a trip to get that today. I bet it would be incredible with some PB toast.
I can’t wait until I’m settled down back in the US and can buy tons of cute dishes like yours. So jealous every day!
Your mug, tablecloth, and bowl are all so picture-esque!
Have a fun day at the bakery!
I LOVE the placemat!!! Where did you get that? Will it be available on Open Sky?
It’s a towel from Oh Little Rabbit’s Etsy store. Not in OpenSky
A hot breakfast is perfect on a cool morning!
Fig butter sounds delicious!
I’m so excited. If it’s getting cooler where you are, then it’s getting warmer here. WOOOOT!
I have never heard of Fig Butter. I will have to get some, because our daughter would probably love it.

Working all day with ME! Woohoo!
Love the cute bowl! Have a great day of work!
I love fig butter! Never thought of putting it in my oats though- so good!
I never normally notice ‘bowls’ but I love yours!!…almost as much as the contents
! I actually had the exact same breakfast but strawberry fruit preserves instead of fig butter!
Glad to hear y’all (including the bread) are okay up there after the Earthquake.
Still waiting on your BIG news…was hoping to see it this morning. But! Something to look forward to.
Fig butter? You are always giving us interesting (and new to some of us) ingredients…thank you! TJ’s is coming to Texas soon…can’t wait!
TJ’S coming to TX? Dallas or Houston?
Dallas first…sadly, Dallas seems to always get stuff first. Houston (where I am) gets no love!
Go figure. I hear so many good things about TJ’s. Hope they come here soon. ( i’m also in Houston)
I’m in Houston too and have been doing a countdown for TJs. Everytime I go back east to visit family I stock up. I am waiting for a Whole Foods in the Clear Lake area!
The closest WF is Sugar Land. I go to WF on Bellaire. New store in Montrose.
Big news probalby coming tomorrow. It needs a thought-out post!
i’m holding my breath Kath!!!
Me too!
Love that mug too. New mugs always make me excited for my morning coffee
I NEED that fig butter! I love figs, and I especially love the cute packaging of all TJ’s fruit butters
Love that mug. I used to b*#@h and moan about bikers (yep, true – but you know how it is in Charlotte. no great bike lanes, and thus they are always in MY way in my car)… but, I just spent last week at the beach, and on a bike. We tooled up and down the island each and every day. I loved it. Nothing fancy, and certainly not done for sport; but we must have covered over 30 miles in just a few days, without even trying.
~
I’ve been buying this fig jam from our indoor farmer’s market and I absolutely love it. I might need to drive the 50 miles to TJ’s to try their version though!
I know you get asked this a million times-but I have looked for the answer & cant find it:(
How tall are you?
(sorry to answer for you Kath.) 5’2″ I believe.
Yep.
This is true
Yes, WHERE did you get that mug? I MUST have it, or…or…I will…not have it.
A blog reader gave it to me – see my HLS post from Friday night
ha – my last blog post was all about the tj’s fig butter being out when i went to look for it. YOU’RE TORTURING ME!!!!
Is that mug from Fishs Eddy? I just got the same one for my Dad from there! It’s so super cute, I love it! Looks like a great breakfast to start the day!
Another one of those awesome bowls… I like the red color too! Hmm I might just have to buy them all.
That mug really is pretty cool. You’re a really good photographer, is photography something you did before you started blogging, or is it a talent that you developed from having a blog? All my blog photos are from my iPhone… Maybe I’ll ask for a new camera for Christmas if my blog is successful! (already asking for a garmin for my birthday… haha).
Thanks!! I’m self-taught from 4 years of blogging 3 times a day. I guess practice makes better!?
I love the bike patterns! To cute
Fig butter? Oh no…I’m in serious trouble! I’m at this very moment eating some TJs pumpkin butter on toast. I think I bought two dozen jars last fall. (No, I’m not kidding.) I love fig jam, so I am going to get myself to a TJ’s stat for some fig butter. (Sadly, I was not a fan of the mango butter. The jar I bought is languishing in my fridge.)
Good wife!! Letting hubby rest!
I love that mug!
mmmm yumm!
Love the mug!
I think I’m gonna have to start making oatmeal now that I have no meal plan at college. The problem is that I’m too lazy:(
I love + NEED that mug.
hehe Might have to grab some fig butter next time I’m in Ohio!
I bet crackers, Manchego or a spreadable cheese and TJ’s Fig Butter would go great together! Whole Foods sells a fig spread that is sweeter and not as fig-y and costs double!! Another win for TJ’s!
I tend to be out SPOKEn (I’ll go with the theme) but what is it with the love of nut butters (not just you, lots of others) that have so much added sugar and oil to them? Why not just go with a plain variety? Seems like excessive non nutritional additives put in there. I would love to hear your thoughts as a dietician. Knowing full well you use it as a condiment in small portions.
You said it yourself – it’s just a condiment. I don’t think twice about using ketchup with HFCS in restaurants either. Additionally, the ratio of sugar + oil to peanuts is very very small so it’s even less than the nut butter as a whole. I really enjoy all the flavor varieties – I’d get bored eating the same nut butter everyday and I like using them for a good source of fats in my breakfasts.
So glad you’re enjoying the mug!!! I’m riding my bike today too!!
Totally agree that the TJ’s fig butter is fantastic. I put it on a tortilla with some blue cheese (saw the combo as an appetizer once) and it was amazing. It’s got to taste better in that bowl. Love!
oh em gee. fig butter? crap. must get to TJ’s soon!
Oh my gosh…looks so good!
Lots of great mug talk…yes, it is from Fisherman Eddie’s in NYC!! I saw it and thought Kath must have this!! It’s super cool!
I’ve recently started using chia seeds, and am wondering…do you just put them into your oatmeal whole? Or do you grind them somehow? And do you put them in while it’s cooking, or at the end? My little guy doesn’t seem to like their texture, so I’m thinking of trying to grind them…
Yep whole! But grinding works too
Fig butter???!!!! I’m at TJ’s weekly…I’ve never seen this! Is this a recent purchase? Can’t wait to try it!
I just bought a bike! I was inspired by the fact that you rarely drive and spent $0 on gas (a few posts ago). I try to bike for entertainment and would love to conquer commuting if it weren’t for so many freeway overpasses – do you just walk your bike? I’ve always heard wayyy too much about people getting hit by cars, but I suppose that’s because I live in Southern California. Eek.
We don’t really have freeway overpasses here in Cville, so that makes it easier! I would never have ridden on the roads in Charlotte – crazy traffic. This is one reason we wanted to move to a smaller city. Cville is very bike friendly, but other cities – not so much.
Super cute biking mug AND towel– love the biking theme going on
Wooh! Im glad to be seeing oats again!
Where did you get the amazing bike mug? I must have it
