Matt and I never talk on the phone when I travel – we’re both too busy – but last night we talked for about 45 minutes before I went to sleep. Lots of news to share! I asked him what he had for dinner. His reply: "A salad from the garden with tofu, tomatoes and garlic gold. And beer." Hilarious.
I slept so well last night – until 7:40! I had just 20 minutes to get ready for the Together Counts 5K walk this morning, but I made it just in time. Since I didn’t know if we’d be running at all, I left my technology at home. I’m sure you can find photos of our giant blogger mob in front of the L.O.V.E. sign around the blog world this morning
The 5K was great. I got to know one of the few men here – Jon – who is a DAVIDSON grad! We squealed at each other to find a fellow Wildcat and talked Davidson for 3.2 miles.
Breakfast was a Quaker oats extravaganza
I filled my bowl with oats and toppings of ground flax, pecans, almond butter, chocolate chips and Quaker Oatmeal Squares. Plus fruit!
Protein on the side: Oikos Peach Mango! New flavor. Fruit on the bottom. Loved it!
Back in the ballroom, I added a coffee.
"She’s just not that into you"
The best part of HLS is obviously the people. All the communication and online friendship is great, but it’s being together in person that counts most <3
Thanks to Meghann for planning an awesome Summit v 3.0! And all of the sponsors who made it happen.

i think your blog is the one that i first saw quaker oats squares on? they’re one of my faves. thanks!
Ditto, I love them – have you tried the “Maple & Brown Sugar”?
I assume today is the last day? Sounds like Matt had a simple meal – not your typical “man home-alone” meal of pizza and beer though! – no wonder he’s so thin!
Quaker Oat Squares are addicting! They have the perfect texture and flavor. Yum!
Matt makes a wife/dietitian proud!
I’ve been reading all wonderful HLS recaps and surely feel I am missing all those fun
It looks like it was such an amazing experience! I’m really enjoying reading everybody’s posts and the Twitter stream was fab
I HOPE you made it Sabrina’s cafe in Philly, it would be a shame to miss that place… it is right up your street
(i think) link to it :http://sabrinascafe.com/ They even have adorable mugs and things!
Love that Matt is as healthy as his blog-famous wifey
It’s also nice you guys got to catch up!
Sounds like an awesome weekend! Glad you get to see Matt again : )
How awesome! You started something great and it looks like this year the tradition of greatness went on, everyone says how much they were loving it!
Safe travels!
Thanks for keeping us updated on HLS for those of us who couldn’t make it!
The HLS this year looked GREAT! I really want to try my best to make it next year– Glad it was a success
My friend and I were discussing this the other day and were so in awe how 6 girls could organise such a phenomenon! And hats off to Meghann, based on all the recaps she looks like she did a fab job!
Breakfast looked delic- I always like adding Greek yogurt to my oats to make it creamier!
Peach mango? Um, yes please!
Weird, Michael and I even text each others ears off (does that make sense?) when even just being away from each other a few hours while I’m at school. I’m sure that’ll die down..but since we started long distance then recently began living with each other, it’s almost as if it’s second nature to talk through our entire day.
It doesn’t have to die down, my husband and I have been married for 23 years and we still talk or text throughout the day. I have never gone through an entire day since I met him without having some sort of communication, and he travels for work several days a week:)
My husband and I are like this too
In fact we’re paying major roaming charges so we can use Blackberry Messenger while he is in China this week because it just feels weird to not be able to stay in contact and touch base through out the day. I think some couple are just like this and others aren’t – whatever works for you!
Skype… it’s free!
My husband and I have been together every single day–even at work–for the past 6 years, it’s hard to imagine a day where we don’t talk at all! haha
That cereal looks like it is packed full of vitamins! Love the combination of strawberries and blueberries!

Quaker Oatmeal Squares are the absolute best. I NEEEEED to buy a fresh box of them. I’ve been so wrapped up in granola lately that they kind of fell by the wayside. Time to bring them back into my life.
Yay for finding another Davidson grad!! I’m the same way when I see Boston College grads
Safe travels home!
HLS sounded great this year! I hope to be there next year. Sounds awesome!
Tony has been gone all weekend at a convention and I haven’t talked to him other than texts all weekend! It’s making me crazy. I want to hear his voice! Sounds like a great event Kath!
Totally agree with the “being together in person is what counts”!! I can’t wait to meet all of you in person one day!
Looks like a wonderful morning– so jealous, but glad you all’ had fun
xx
I wish I was that creative to throw together a hotel breakfast like that! Beautiful as always!
I would get soo excited with a breakfast like this! How delish
A couple of Wildcats connecting at the Healthy Living Summit! Great stuff!
Gotta love Quaker Oats, they’re a staple in my life! And peach mango fruit on the bottom??? That sounds amazing! I’m hoping it will be in my grocery store next weekend…
I hope I can attend HLS someday! Looks like you’ve continued to have an awesome time!
Your breakfast looks delish!!
Sounds like you had a great time!
Oh I definitely would love to try that Peach Mango Oikos yogurt! Yum! Thanks for keeping us updated on your weekend. Looked like a blast!
mmmm that b-fast looks simply splendid!!
“All the communication and online friendship is great, but it’s being together in person that counts most”-
AMEN!!! I had a real life meetup with a local friend on Friday and I posted a similar sentiment. There is just something about being able to sit across from a friend, in the flesh, and be together and share a coffee together or whatever..online is great, but in person is so needed, too.
And the fact that Matt MADE dinner for himself when you were gone…good job, Matt
I am glad you enjoyed the weekend! I definitely did as well…already looking forward to next year
Travel safely back home!
I still miss the Caramel Oikos. And every kind of American Greek yoghurt, actually…
I hope I can find this yogurt in NYC as I think I’m officially addicted! It was delicious!
The new oikos flavors look great. I just bought a honey fig one today, can’t wait to try it!
I can’t believe that I didn’t have the new flavour of oikos?!?! I agree, the people are amazing. Countdown to HLS 4 is on!
