Beer For Dessert

August 21, 2009

Around 10:30, midway through a project, I looked outside and it was pretty and I got the urge to bike away ASAP. So I did! I usually push my workout back as far as possible so I can get as much done in the morning as I can (my most productive hours), but I have to say, it was so nice to be at the gym and not feel rushed by my hungry stomach and clock.

I actually did some hard-core weight lifting!! Imagine that.

Plus 30 minutes on the Stairmaster, which I really enjoyed.

I need to learn to plan my day better so I’m not rushing/hungry. Since my classes this semester start at 2PM, I probably will move my workouts back an hour to today’s timeline, so hopefully that will help. I just need to start getting up at  6:00 to get that hour back!

Lunch was fabulous and a mystery because it’s for my next Mushroom Channel post – should be posted soon!

I really enjoy having more "dinnery" foods for lunch, so I should plan that in more.

Munchy flax chips!

Since I ate lunch at 12:30 instead of 1:30, I’m sure I’ll be needing a larger snack. I’m already excited!!

Our kitchen is a beer factory at the moment – the boys are bottling their latest brew.

So for dessert I had a few sips of an India Brown Ale comparison tasting :)

Dogfish Head India Brown Ale vs. Terrapin India Brown Ale.

DOGFISH WON!! It was richer and more roasted with a fuller body. Terrapin was too bitter for me.

I’m lucky to be going to BlogHer Food in September thanks to Nasoya and The Mushroom Channel‘s sponsorship, but after reading the details of the FoodBuzz Blogger Festival, I’ve got to find a way to attend both!! Anyone want to negotiate!?

Back to work!

Where do you buy those flax chips and what brand are they. they look amazing!

4 kay (eating machine) August 21, 2009 at 12:48 pm

I love the beer-filled kitchen. I’m worried for the day my fiance decides he wants to homebrew… It’s only a matter of time…. And then our house will be a beer factory too!

5 Jess August 21, 2009 at 12:48 pm

I’ve been having “dinnery” foods for lunch since I switched to working afternoons/evenings and it’s kinda weird for me!

6 Lindsay @ bananaandchocolate August 21, 2009 at 1:05 pm

I love having dinnery type foods for lunch. The foodbuzz festival sounds like so much fun! I’m not sure I’ll be able to go though because of work!

As a University of Maryland alum, I really want to try Terrapin beer!!

I eat dinner food for lunch most of the time…it fits better with my working 3-11pm schedule. :) I recommend it!

10 brandi August 21, 2009 at 1:15 pm

love the beer at lunch, and I like dinner-y foods better, too.

I know! I really want to go to the Foodbuzz Blogger festival, but the flights would just be too much for me. Hotel I could handle, but that + flights.

11 Nina August 21, 2009 at 1:20 pm

SF is where it’s AT! I want to go to that festival and I am blogless.

Hmm, what could you trade for a stay in my guest room?

13 zestycook August 21, 2009 at 1:24 pm

I could so use some beer! I would love to go to SF as well!

Since I’m in the market for a new dining room table, I just noticed how cute yours is! Where did you get it? We need to downsize from our 6 seater to a 4 seater.

17 The Duo Dishes August 21, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Just had to say that flax chips are so so so good. We could eat them all day.

is terappin named after the grateful dead “terappin station”? matt’s looking a bit hippie-ish in his tye-dye….

19 Eve August 21, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Foodbuzz blogger festival – sounds awesome! I’m sure you’ll figure out a way to fit everything in.

20 megan August 21, 2009 at 2:08 pm

I’m jealous of your schedule. I can’t wait until i don’t have to work an 8-5 job anymore! :)

21 Jenn (www. ) August 21, 2009 at 2:18 pm

I actually like dinnery foods for breakfast. I’m not much of a “breakfast foods” person, so I’ve been known to eat pasta for breakfast. Hey, there’s no rules against it! 😛 hehe

22 Kristen @ Simply Savor August 21, 2009 at 2:37 pm

yumm! can’t wait to see the secret mushroom recipe. dinnery foods for lunch is always a nice way to add some excitement mid day :)

23 Angela (Run, Study, Eat) August 21, 2009 at 2:40 pm

24 Kristilyn August 21, 2009 at 2:52 pm

How fun! That’s cute that they both have 2 beers each. :-)

Those chips are amazing!! They’re the Food Should Taste Good ones, right? LOVE them.

Lunch looks yummy!

25 katey August 21, 2009 at 3:06 pm

26 [email protected] Vorilee August 21, 2009 at 3:17 pm

Mushrooms are one of my favorite veggies -they’re so good and versatile, and there are so many different varieties of them!

27 Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now August 21, 2009 at 3:18 pm

I’d love to just be able to go to ONE of them :(

28 Steph August 21, 2009 at 3:32 pm

I totally love “dinnery foods” for lunch too… esp if they are in the form of a leftover most delish dinner from the night before. Nothin’s better than enjoyin it twice right?! Esp to make the humdrum work day go by (I’m a CPA, k?) ha!

29 Sarah R August 21, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Kath, it’s so amazing all of the opportunities that you have had that have come through blogging. So cool!

30 Courtney August 21, 2009 at 4:26 pm

Good job on the hard-core lifting! So important for women to know that it will only benefit them!

31 britt August 21, 2009 at 4:59 pm

beer sounds like a great dessert for a friday afternoon!

32 Chelsea August 21, 2009 at 5:05 pm

If you come to that I can see you!

33 Lara August 21, 2009 at 5:22 pm

Yay for lifting. You should post your lifting workout since so many women don’t do weights (or don’t do them properly) so I think that would be helpful for them.

34 MarathonVal August 21, 2009 at 5:48 pm

I’ll be in SF that weekend for a wedding anyway, and doubt I will be able to get away, but I registered just in case – hoping I get to go to at least a bit of it!

35 mikey August 21, 2009 at 6:16 pm

36 Jenna August 21, 2009 at 7:20 pm

37 Kath August 21, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Lizzy ,
They are Harris Teeter brand.

BethT ,
Does your guest room come with chocolate on the pillow!?

Faye ,
Thanks – it’s Pier 1 circa 4 years ago.

Lara ,
My lifting is so sporadic even I don’t remember. 10 of this, 15 of that, but I will try to remember the next time I do something cool. I am so scatterbrained with lifting.
