We set our alarm for 6:30 to make the 7:30 seating for breakfast at the inn so we could get on our way. Despite going to bed late for eastern time, I woke up at 5AM wide awake! But luckily I was able to dose for another hour.
We came down to a beautiful set dining room. I promptly told the other guests I was a food blogger so I’d be snapping some photos. They were friendly and just said "cool!" I find it’s best to just be honest upfront instead of having people give you weird looks when you pull the camera out from under the table. It’s also good publicity if they ask for your card!
The meal started with coffee
And a fruit plate
I ate all of the fruit – love fruit!
Matt ordered the egg dish, which was a baked ramekin of a meat, cheese and egg
I had a bite, but I am much more of a cereal person in the mornings!
So you can imagine my delight when our host told us yesterday that the cold cereal option was homemade granola! I think granola might be my new proclaimed favorite food. I can’t get enough of it these days! When she mentioned the granola, I asked if they might have any plain yogurt in the kitchen to have it on instead of milk and they were happy to put some out for me. It never hurts to ask! Others at the table used the yogurt too, so it was a wise request.
Last but certainly not least, these HUGE croissants came out in a basket. Matt and I shared one. I’ve never been a fan of croissants in the past, but lately they have been so good when I’ve had them out!
The bear and I are blogging and next we’re setting out on a wild west adventure through Yellowstone! I will be back this evening with a full report of photos!

What a lovely breakfast! It’s like it was designed for you.
I get comments every time I take pics at a restaurant, I still get embarrassed, especially when I have to use flash lol.

How pretty and quaint! Enjoy your wild west adventure!!
What a cute breakfast setting. And how nice to have such lovely company…the bear I mean =)
Enjoy your day!
Haha, I love that you told them why you were taking photos. I feel like that conversation either goes really well or really wtf when I have it
Beautiful breakfast! That’s nice that they were so accommodating.
Croissants are one of the few things that I can never pass up in a bread basket. Especially if they’re homemade!
What a beautiful breakfast presentation! That granola looks very good! I’ve never been an “egg” person for breakfast…
Enjoy the rest of your trip
i’m not a huge croissant person but when they’re hot and fluffy out of the oven, i will *force* myself to try it…..
the bear is gonna LOVE jellystone national park! make sure he doesn’t steal any picnic baskets….
NEVER hurts to ask! good luck today!!!
gorgeous breakfast! i love staying at bed and breakfasts… such fun food!
Have fun in Yellowstone. I have lived in Wyoming my entire life and spent many summer camping trips in the park. You must see Old Faithful, morning glory, and Mammoth if you can swing it. Hope you pack some warm clothing it can be pretty chilly in the Park.
I’m with you on the picture taking thing. I’ve been doing that approach lately and people respond much better to it!
That egg+cheese dish that Matt got looks fab!! And there’s nothing like a great croissant, too bad there are so many crappy ones floating around out there.
Homemade granola and yogurt is a perfect breakfast!
I love that napkin ring/zebra, very cute!
Glad everyone at your table thought it was “cool” you were taking pictures!
that fruit plate looks sooo yummy
jenna
How fun! Have you always been up front about the picture taking?
i love how old fashion and cozy your breakfast set up looks!!
I LOVE B&B breakfasts!! I guess that is kinda redundant.
Pretty granola. I think it is the best food ever.
Enjoy Yellowstone.
Yum! Totally digging Matt’s breakfast and your fruit!
Have fun at Yellowstone!
Don’t you just love Bed & Breakfasts? I traveled around Ireland for two weeks last fall and stayed in so many. It was great to have breakfast included and speaking with both the hosts and other guests.
Although I do like oatmeal, any egg dish is my favorite morning meal. It fills me up more than oatmeal too. Just goes to show how everyone is different!
Enjoy the rest of your trip
Your breakfast reminds me of the inn where we stayed for our wedding weekend. I LOVE B&B breakfasts and hospitality!
What a smart idea about “warning” people up front. I’m sure they thought it was pretty cool and you’ll have some new readers
It never does hurt to ask. The worst someone can say is no when you ask and then you can adjust. The best is that you get what you like
I love that mug, reminds me of my grandmas china!
Hey, Kath, did you guys realize that all those beers from yesterday are named after fly fishing flies? The yellow humpy, hopper pale, copper john — those are all flies! Maybe you did, but I live in the West too (Wyoming!) and I just wanted to point that tiny little detail out. Fly-fishing is truly an art/lifestyle here!
Have fun in Yellowstone!
That bear is so cute

I think it’s a great idea to just say you’re a food blogger. People usually just think I’m weird ahaha Must start doing that too
I’m definitely not one to eat eggs and that kind of thing in the morning. I think it’s mostly a culture thing though, we just don’t usually eat those foods for breakfast here in Portugal.
That all looks so delicious and very cute. We’ve never stayed at a B&B but it’s definitely on our list of things to do. Have a great day!
Me too! Jason eats the craziest things for breakfast…I just look at him like ‘What the heck??’ Haha. I definitely stick with oats or cereal for breakie a lot more than eggs..mostly because eggs and things like that keep me full for long, and I’m a snacky kind of person!!!
Enjoy Yellowstone! I can’t wait to see the pics
What a lovely breakfast!
Enjoy Yellowstone!
Cute little breakfasts at B&B’s are the best! Have fun adventure-ing!
ooooh! I love croissants! I used to make french toast with croissants when I was in high school–not sure why I stopped!
What a beautiful breakfast layout!!
Everything looks perfect! I love having a big plate of fruit for breakfast.
i love yellowstone! nothing like seeing animals in their natural habitat!!!
I wish I was better about telling people why I am taking photos of my food! I am always so shy about it.
I love breakfasts at inns and b & b’s, its always just that extra bit more special than home or a restaurant.
Sounds like you are having an amazing time and the food looks yummy!
Do you have any pumpkin recipes you might want to submit for my e-book to benefit breast cancer research? Info is on my blog.
I can’t believe you don’t love croissants.. on my honeymoon (at the buffets) my favorite breakfast indulgence (that I indulged in a LOT!!) was warm croissants slathered in PB and Nutella…. oh my, to die for!!!
My goodness Kath, this breakfast look amazing! So healthy and so many choices. I’m so impressed. Hope you have a fabulous day!
Yum! Looks like one of those great mornings. Love the pictures with the bear BTW!
I’m still figuring out the whole “food blogger” in the real world business and how to tell people/take my photos without it being super weird.
I still haven’t gotten used to explaining to people why I’m taking pictures of my food!
that breakfast is so dang cute! something that you’d see in a movie!!
what a fab looking breakfast! i love the coffee in a “dressy” coffee cup. cute!
I love the dishes from breakfast, and your granola sounds really good. I love that they were able to put some plain yogurt out for the granola, too – I prefer granola with yogurt over milk
Cereal with milk doesn’t fill me up unless I eat an obscene amount, but yogurt is much better.
I’m new to the blogging scene but I’ve been working on figuring out how to deal with the whole pictures in public thing. I think the more established I feel about the blog the easier it is just to tell people.
mmm granola!!
Meredith,
Not as much as lately, but I have never been secretive or embarrassed. Blogs are cool!
Carrie,
Oh how fun!
Kath
What a dainty fruit plate!
