Me via G-chat: "Going to make breakfast now…..we have sun!!”
Mom: “Oh good. You will like it! We got ours back two days ago.”
Like it, I do!
Big bowl of whipped banana oatmeal with cottage cheese, cinnamon and vanilla topped with almond butter, coconut and chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Quite the happy breakfast today!
I made a half cup of oats instead of 1/3 today because I was feeling extra hungry. Loved every bite!
Served with hot tea. Why is it that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold? Can’t wait until everyday is sunny + warm.

Festive breakfast!
Happy Thursday, Kath!
The sun is here in bmore!!!
That is one pretty bowl of oats!
Have a sunny day!
I’m glad you’ve gotten the sun back, isn’t it lovely!!!
yay for the sunshine!! it’s been sunny here all week, and i’m just loving it. i would be happy if it never went away.
isn’t it crazy how much of a difference 1/2 cup of oats vs 1/3 cup of oats makes? i do the same thing when i’m feeling extra hungry and it always seems like there’s SO much more oats that i would expect.
Sun makes everyday better and brighter (literally!).
We got our sun back today too after 3 days of rain. Yay! Your little sunflower seeds always remind me of mini Easter eggs. Have a great day Kath!
Glad to hear you have the sun back. It’s still overcast in London! I love the colors of your breakfast today – the food, the bowl and the mug. Enjoy the sun!
I was so glad to see the sun today too! It makes for a much more pleasant day when it’s bright and sunny outside! Enjoy it!
Your breakfast is very festive today! I love the pastel colors.
Looks like we will get some sun in NY too, I am very happy
I can have my lunch outside today!!! Have a nice day!
Yay for the sunshine! I do love me some rain but it’s definitely nice after a few days for the sun to pop back and say hello.
I wish it was sunny in the UK. It’s been raining pretty much every day for the last 3 weeks. I’m starting to think summer is never going to happen here! Enjoy the sun
So festive! Enjoy your sunshine
When you make 1/3 cup oats, how much liquid do you add? I’ve always just done what the box says–1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water/milk.
2/3 water, 1/3 milk for soupier, equal parts for thicker
I feel like we are sun kindred spirits–I am a completely different person when the sun is out and its warm! It just makes life so much better!
I just tried chocolate covered sunflower seeds and I am hooked!
I know – it’s the same here. It finally stopped raining but it is chilllly. I’ll take it for now though…I’m sure I’ll be wishing for these days in the dead heat of summer!
People always think living in LA you take sunshine n warmth for granted. I’m here to affirm it never ever gets old.
No sun is upstate NY! Maybe you could share the wealth and send some up here
Yay for sunshine!! Enjoy this beautiful day!
Looks like a celebatory breakfast! Yeah for sun…we had a bit of both yesterday…looks like the sun is trying to sneak past the clouds as I write but the air still has a bit of a nip in it today. It could still be a coat day.
Yayyyy for sunshine! I love those little chocolate covered sunflower seeds. I purchased a bunch of red and green ones for Christmas….and we’re still making our way through them! Luckily the bags close really well and they don’t expire quickly!!
That is a bright bowl! I can’t stand chocolate for breakfast thought-I’d prob throw up. But those do looookkk tasty
Such a cute quote “Oh good. You will like it!” Yes, I like the sun too
Such a pretty bowl!! Colorful food tastes better.
Yummy festive colorful bowl! Great idea for a healthy breakfast in bead for a birthday or mothers day!
Where did you get the chocolate covered sunflower seeds?! They look gooooood!!!!
A baby shower gift favor
How does your rain chain hold up during heavy rain storms? Thinking about adding one to my house and am curious how it handles heavy rain storms versus traditional gutter down spouts. Thanks, long time reader first time commenter
So far, so good
Love the happy choc covered sunflower seeds! The reason that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold is because the cloud cover actually holds the warmth in kind of like a blanket, and a clear sky allows it to escape! Its still raining in the northeast, but that’s ok for me today because I need to stay in and study! Looks like more sun’s coming to us tomorrow
*in bed!!! Breakfast in BED! Lol
What a gorgeous bowl! That would certainly brighten anyone’s morning. Looks like a lovely day all around, even here in Wisconsin.
send some sunshine down here please
I LOVE that bowl. It’s so pretty and Anthroplogie-like!
That’s where it’s from
When I first saw your post, I immediately began singing “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin! I also had a question about using a rice cooker for oats; what are the advantages to making them this way? Is it faster or less time consuming? Thank you and enjoy your sunny day!
It just means there’s less hands on in the morning. And it’s easy to take out one portion and leave another portion for a sleeping partner. But the clean up and prep time are about the same.
Oh, okay. Thank you–I just might have to get one!
coconut and chocolate covered sunflower seeds are a great way to start the day!
I love your colorful oatmeal! Happy sunshine day!
That bowl is beautiful, enjoy your sunshine!! ; )
You breakfast looks so springy – I love it!
Seriously!! I was so glad to see the sun today but when I stepped outside I was freezing! What’s the deal weather??
Hopefully, the chocolate covered sunflower seeds brightened your day
