Breakmeal w/ AB

Nothing exciting to report on this morning, except the crunchy MaraNatha AB was good :) I only had one drink last night (well maybe 1.5 when you count sips of the husband’s and sips of the second one I didn’t finish) and I definitely felt icky all night long. So annoying that I can’t enjoy a little wine!!

Today’s oat combo was almond-centered again:

  • 1/3 cup oat/milk/water combo
  • 1/2 small banana
  • Pinch kamutberries (running low!)
  • Tsp almond liquor
  • Wheat germ
  • Toasted almonds
  • AB

Since we were out last night, I decided to bump my workout to the post-Organic slot. It looks like this weekend will be more relaxing than the last – hopefully I can knock off most of my studying today and enjoy the rest. We have a FILM CREW following us on Saturday for the Current TV story, so that will definitely make things interesting. Tonight’s going to be a laid back night.

Off to take a quiz in Organic!!!! Hopefully I can remember the difference between an ether and an ester!

Recently, red wine gives me migranes and alters my sleep to the point where I have a great aversion to it… So sad! I love the taste and used to make Sangria often. Crunchy AB, yummmoOO!

Yadi, I’ve found I cannot drink reds anymore, either, as it triggers my migraines. I do fine with whites, though.

Everyone wish all of us in and around Houston luck!!! Our buddy Ike is on his way, that big ol’ monster.

Kath, good luck on your quiz but more importantly have fun with the film crew! We are all so excited for you- you are really on your way. You are certainly the star of the blog world for a good reason- your kindness, your honesty, and your enthusiasm. I hope you and Matt feel just as excited as we are that things are really happening for you because you are such a positive role model.

Keep up the good work and thank you a million times!

I’ve never tried that brand of PB and AB. I always see it in the stores. I’ll have to try that oen next time. Good luck on your quiz! I always heard that Organic chem is one of the toughest classes to take. Which completely scares me because I have to take it. What do you think of it so far??

For those of you that get headaches from red wine – try French reds. They contain a very low amount of sulfites (usually what causes the headaches/ stuffy noses the next day). I’ve gotten so used to French reds that I can’t drink anything from California anymore – makes me feel vile the next day!

Film Crew?

When I’m bored I like to pretend a film crew is following me around and that what I’m doing is actually entertainment for someone out there. :)

To anyone in Houston/ Texas…y’all take care and be careful! My family is in LA, and Gustav hit Baton Rouge really bad, so I am no stranger to hurricanes. :)

I’m in Dallas, so we expect lots of rain and wind, but nothing like what more southern parts will get. STAY SAFE!

I have a new project for The Husband! When I was little I remember my mom getting part of a “Friendship Bread” starter. I remember the bread tasting delicious, and having fun “feeding” the starter for her… the problem is that I don’t know how to start it myself. I know there are all sorts of directions all over the web for where to start, but I thought it might be fun to see you show off your baking expertise via a photographed blog account. Any interest??

Hey guys, have you ever tried mixing mustard with your canned tuna instead of mayo?? well I did that today (I was out of mayo) and I think it tastes better! Not as fishy, and less calories…ya’ll should try it if you haven’t…just thought I’d share… :)

Kath,
maybe you need to drink a glass of wine more regularly and you will build up more of a tolerance so that a glass and half won’t be such a big deal and cause you to feel to feel “yucky.” I know when I used to only drink wine on occasion I’d get much more of a reaction than I do now, drinking more regularly (in moderation.)

hey kath,

i’ve been working out pretty regularly (& hardcore) for about a year. I eat pretty healthy too, for the most part (except for the occassional ice cream or cake on wknds, of course!) I get my weight and messurements taken at the gym w/my trainer. My weight for the most part has stayed the same, but the measurements and % body fat has decreased, sllllllllowwwwwwwwly!! I heard that’s a good thing, but i’m still having trouble accepting that my weight is relatively the same. Especially when i see someone in your case who has lost so much weight. i don’t need to lose a ton of weight, but i’d like to lose at least a good 10 lbs (like any normal girl would!)
any advice you could give me or words of hope, maybe??

p.s. could the husband give his recipe for the homemade cheese buns?? i tried looking for it but i can’t find it & they look awesome!!

Shelby ,
The kamut berries taste like wheat berries – a cross between steel cut oats and rice. Yes, you simmer them for about 45 minutes.

Little Black Dress,
Thanks for the sweet comment :)

ModelBehavior ,
This is the no stir version – is that what you had? I would say it is a bit oilier than the “almonds, salt” ones, but I still think it’s good.

Betsy in Pittsburgh,
I hate marzipan and almond cookies too – the butter is totally different!

faith ,
Blog readers have trickled in day by day for the past year. I guess mostly by word of mouth …and….type.

I like firm tofu, baked the best.

Cool you’re coming to NC!

lisa ,
I’m liking it so far. I like all the naming of compounds. Call me a nerd, but it’s kind of like a puzzle to figure out how to draw 2-isopropal-3,5-dimethylpentane!

runjess ,
Sony CyberShot. It’s in the FAQs ;)

HangryPants ,
I did read through that thread – interesting conversation. I thought many of you level-headed people had great responses: food blogs do not equal eating disorders but are a form of creativity. We’re getting PAID. It’s fun, etc.

Maryam ,
I’m not qualified to give diet advice, and without doing a thorough assessment on your eating, exercise and lifestyle habits, even an R.D. would have a tough time giving specific recommendations. I would suggest generally that you try to clean up your diet – not necessarily changing how much you eat but what you eat. The more fresh foods the better. That certainly makes a difference for me and how I look and feel.

The cheesy buns are in the recipe sidebar under the husband’s page!
