Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!

Foodblog-7543

Matt had the day off and we felt like doing something special so after a long family walk, morning naptime and some playin’ we all went to Beer Run for lunch.

Foodblog-7531

Beers for lunch – it was a holiday and all!

Foodblog-7526

Matt and I shared a salad –

Foodblog-7527

And a juicy bison burger!

Foodblog-7528

M enjoyed a new placemat with cheese, avocado and bits of bison burger served atop.

Foodblog-7525

We headed over to our neighbors’ for their annual 4th extravaganza and then later on packed up our bathing suits and a picnic for a trek out to Mint Springs Park with Karen and some friends.

Foodblog-7561

Mazen was excited to see his girlfriends!

Foodblog-7538Foodblog-7547

We parents had a wonderful spread of foods – salads, dips, watermelon, sushi, bread

Foodblog-7534

We had dinner at 5pm! And then all took a dip in the water. Maze loves it and his new floaty!

Foodblog-7552Foodblog-7553

We dried off for dessert before heading home for bedtime –

Foodblog-7558

A local pie, Great Harvest sweets and a berry crisp made by Gina. Fabulous!

We did not get to see fireworks this year, but our little spark kept us plenty happy <3

Yeah, and the kids look beautiful too. Lovely post as usual Kath, I need to buy a camera soon (even though I’m typically against accumulating digital belongings)- you always inspire me!

What a great 4th! Archie has that same floatie and loved it at the pool! So glad I have a baby that loves the water. And I love your swimsuit top. Great coverage! I had such a hard time finding a top with great coverage this year due to me still nursing and finally found one but man, it made me think that maybe I need to design post partum swimsuits!

That kid has the biggest beautiful eyes! Love the nails and might I add although I’m not usually one to comment and tend to avoid it but you’re looking fantastic! :)

Mazen is getting so big, and he looks more and more like you the older he gets. Love it.
Sounds like a fun fourth – gotta love picnics with friends.

It looks like Beer Run is yet another place I need to check out in Charlottesville.

And I see you going with the local Chateau Morrisette Blackberry Wine! Good call!

You GO Kath! You look fab and so does that spread of food, the lake, and the whole day really;) We enjoyed our first 4th back in the States after 2 years, so fireworks were a MUST! We enjoyed watching them boom over Kailua bay in Hawaii;) A great “welcome back” to the USA!

I find it interesting that you share your meals with your husband. If I asked mine to share a burger with me I’m sure that idea would get shot down really fast. ;)

It cracked me up someone asked why you share food with your husband. Well, that’s why you have a baby and look amazing in a bikini. Everything in moderation!

Kath, was there a baby book that you once recommended that had a good technique for getting babies established with a sleep routine? I know there was one that I read about somewhere and I wondered if it was here.

Reply

32 KathEats July 6, 2013 at 9:12 am

There are a few of the sleep books I read listed in this post. How old is your baby? I am not really one to ask about sleep because Mazen didn’t sleep until we sleep trained at 6 months (using Ferber’s method so perhaps read his book?) Good luck!

Wow! You really had so much fun. I like the combination of beer, salad and burgers! I’m just worried about getting so much food and ruin my weight loss program during occasions like this.
